Title: Square-Enix To Announce A Game "Everyone Has Reque

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/6352.html

According to RPG Land citing a Gamega interview with Square-Enix's Tetsuya Nomura, he'll be announcing a brand new title in 2010 and it has been "requested by fans" and even by members of the press he meets "all over the world." The quote, featuring broken translation, reads as follows:

"I can just say, that indeed, whereas I'm still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and which one is terribly waited from everyone and often 'REQUESTED' by fans and even of the press crew that I meet all over the world."

A lot are saying its a FF7 remake for the ps3 which I think is completely wrong. If they were making another FF console game other than the 2 new ones already coming out then I doubt this would be the way they announce it. Also I doubt they will be doing another ff console game so soon after the ones they just released. If it was a ff7 remake i would think it would be on the ds rather than on a console.

But after seeing this I'm sure the first thing that pops up in our heads is smrpg. Its rather unlikely if we look at all our past swings and misses however it is something and something is always better than nothing.

What do you guys think? If not smrpg than what? another ff rehash? Surely they aren't making FF7 with glorious ps3 graphics so soon... :bowsercrying:

Baby Bros - January 1, 2010 10:36 PM (GMT)
I really doubt it's an SMRPG remake, considering it's Square-Enix who announced it... But I really wonder what it could be. My first guess would be something FF-related, but I don't know.

Super Mallow - January 1, 2010 11:38 PM (GMT)
WHAT IF

it was Mario RPG

*can't get hopes up*

InfinityKnight - January 2, 2010 12:20 AM (GMT)
Requested by fans all over the world? The game FF7 comes to mind, but maybe something else could answer this but it looks like the question thats being asked right now is " What game did many people request worldwide?"

Baby Bros - January 2, 2010 04:00 AM (GMT)
OH I KNOW.

SMB2, from Birdo's perspective. That would bbe amazing.

InfinityKnight - January 2, 2010 04:29 AM (GMT)
XD Yes it would.

Shy Guy Red - January 2, 2010 01:20 PM (GMT)
As many have said the FF7 remake seems very likely.

I also think it could be Kingdom Hearts 3.

Radiance Paladin - January 2, 2010 04:49 PM (GMT)
If it makes you guys feel better, then I can tell you that Square-Enix already made a remake for both Final Fantasy VII and VIII for the Playstation Network...so there's no way that Square-Enix will make a Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS3 now. But I might get my hopes up on a Super Mario RPG remake/sequel. ^_^

Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VIII

Go Super Mario RPG!!!

Super Mallow - January 2, 2010 07:48 PM (GMT)
Well the FF7 remake was just a re-release on the PSN, much like Smrpg was on the VC

Shine Ninja - January 2, 2010 11:20 PM (GMT)
Well, it could be anything. A possible Chrono Trigger sequel? Super Mario RPG 2? A Final Fantasy remake? Who knows. Let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Helios_Knight - January 3, 2010 01:08 AM (GMT)
I'm going to guess either a Final Fantasy VII remake or a new entry in the Chrono series.

Maybe Kingdom Hearts III...

Radiance Paladin - January 8, 2010 11:47 PM (GMT)
Kingdom Hearts III=Awesome to the Max! ^_^ Also, whatever Square-Enix have in store for us...I'm sure that it will be a good game. B)

InfinityKnight - January 9, 2010 05:03 AM (GMT)
Hmm...

Kingdom Hearts III has a very good chance of appearing, most of the fans of the series know that it will come eventually and with Birth by Sleep already out for Japan, Now seems like a key time to announce the third.

Super Mario RPG does fall into this category as many wish for a sequel sometime. However, I would see something metioned about Nintendo too... Ah well, no matter how slim the chances are, its still up there.

And a new entry into the Chrono series would be AMAZING. But it would be hard to get another sequel as the old team that made the first two amazing titles are now split up into different teams (some which made their way into Nintendo) But somethings could of happened behind the scenes.

Helios_Knight - March 2, 2010 02:57 AM (GMT)
So did nothing come from this?

GasparXR - March 2, 2010 03:16 AM (GMT)
I'm hoping for an SMRPG remake/sequel, but it would be more likely for either a Chrono Cross remake on DS or a Chrono sequel, at least in my opinion.

Really, though, a CC remake is definitely possible since they did release CTDS... hopefully it's on DS too.

Shy Guy Red - March 3, 2010 04:35 AM (GMT)
Yes what happened to this.

I havent heard any square announcements besides Dragon Quest VI and IX..... So I think Square still hasent said anything about it.

Radiance Paladin - March 3, 2010 09:50 PM (GMT)
If it is Dragon Quest IX...then I hope it's worth the wait. ^_^

Bradii - July 10, 2010 04:23 PM (GMT)
So like... it's July. Nothing? I'm pretty interested in knowing what was revealed, and am too lazy to google it.

Setzer - July 10, 2010 06:09 PM (GMT)
I think it's Geno B)

Radiance Paladin - July 13, 2010 12:29 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's Square-Enix for you. Besides Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, everything else they do is like a punch downstairs. I mean, do we really want a sequel to "Just Cause" and "Kane and Lynch?" I never even heard of those games until now.

Edit: And speaking of low blows, Square-Enix is also the developer of "Mario Sports Mix" (in Wikipedia). They might as well say, "we will make every game you don't want and every sequel you don't care about."

Bradii - July 13, 2010 05:12 PM (GMT)
This makes them sound more like FailEnix

I see what you did there but technically I didn't because FailEnix is the same thing is SquareEnix.

MetalMario - July 14, 2010 06:17 PM (GMT)
It's probably another sequel to FF, Dragon Quest, or not Super Mario RPG. :(

Setzer - July 15, 2010 12:26 AM (GMT)
Not Super Mario RPG is for sure. They need to at least remake that game on the 3DS.

OH MY GOD.

Yeah, there's no defending Mario Sports Mix, LOL.

But The World Ends With You and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time both did great critically. Yeah, both have terrible stories, even by video game standards, but the combat in both is widely considered wonderful. I'm not sure those are games everyone would request a sequel to, but still, they have more than two properties, and I'm sure they'd make great games. (Maybe Star Ocean not so much, that has a shaky history, but still, Till the End of Time was good.)

Also, Just Cause and Kane and Lynch are more Eidos properties than anything--Square publishes those. Forgive me for not reading the topic closer, but why do people think Square would hype up sequels to these games?

InfinityKnight - July 15, 2010 06:26 AM (GMT)
I thought World Ends With You had a pretty good story, though some of the characters that had some cliched personalities. Star Ocean Till the End of Time I am playing through currently so I can't add anything much.

Oh yeah! I forgot about the Star Ocean Series ^_^ (It's too bad, they only have four games...to my knowledge at least). I guess I was so mad that everything else seems like a blur since I recently bought "Final Fantasy XIII" and "Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies," and everything else made by Square-Enix sort of fade away. They also got the Grandia Series (at least one and three...Grandia 2 is good game, but it was made by Ubisoft, the same people who made the Evolution Series. But take my word for it...DON'T buy Grandia Xterme, that game is just plain awful. It's still a good game, but it got so much crud mix it in as well as the good parts.)

The World Ends with You, is also a good game for the DS ( I still can't figure out the battle system though). Oh don't worry, I knew that Square-Enix wasn't in complete charge of "Just Cause" and "Kane and Lynch", but it gets better. A few months ago, I got an email from Square-Enix talking about "Batman: Arkham Asylum: Game of the Year Edition.” Now Square-Enix is part of making Batman games? I think they tease us too many times. (Well it's basically the same thing as Just Cause and Kane and Lynch")

vinnyboiler - July 16, 2010 01:01 AM (GMT)
Maybe Mario Sports Mix is just to boast confidence that Nintendo and Square-Enix can work together and if the game sells then Nintendo could give Square a chance to develop another game with thier licensed charactors (which also means the other half of a certain charactors contract).
It's a longshot but if it turns out to be true then I am really looking forward for Mario Sport Mix (heck Geno could even be in that game :) )

Setzer - July 16, 2010 01:24 AM (GMT)
I would love to see Geno playing sports in some short-shorts.

Bradii - July 16, 2010 01:39 AM (GMT)

lololol, so true.

MetalMario - July 20, 2010 11:57 PM (GMT)
Yep and Mario Hoops 3-on-3. It was Square Enix too.

vinnyboiler - July 26, 2010 12:00 AM (GMT)
This could start of something good.
Right now Nintendo is giving squre enix rubbish games to develop, but how long untill they realise the whole 'rpg' side of the company?
If Square keeps making sports games mabe one day that genre might shift and we can see a New Super Mario RPG :)

MetalMario - July 26, 2010 02:42 AM (GMT)
A guy who did something with Final Fantasy is working with Nintendo to make something called the last Story for Wii.

InfinityKnight - July 26, 2010 04:29 AM (GMT)
Indeed MetalMario, it is the creator of the Final Fantasy Franchise that is making Last Story. Also Nintendo's Second Party group Monolith Soft which made Baten Kaitos, and is now making Xenoblade is also made from much of the old Squaresoft staff that left after the release of Chrono Cross. Nintendo hasn't been strangers to the RPG genre either. Also I think a bit of bitter feelings may be held in Super Mario RPG. That however is just a theory really.
