Title: F.A.Q

Veritas - November 8, 2009 02:26 PM (GMT)
This post is just to help with questions that have been asked on site / chatbox / pm that concern site policies, ect, so will be added to as needed.

Anything in
white is a link to an area on the site.

What does this mean?

Avatar = The celebrity, model, whoever, you use to be the face / body of your character.
~~
Canon = A character that was shown / mentioned in a comic / show/ film / book.

Character = Please look here for a list of the 5 'ranks' of character on site and what each can do, who needs a bio... Character 'rankings' in order = Main character (MC), Non playable character (NPC), Owned extra (OE); Extra and Throwaway.
~~
NRN (No reply needed) = A thread that needs no reply, but the poster wants to post for reasons of game play... eg sitting and musing on things.
~~
OC / original character = Anyone made up by a member who is bio-d
~~
Open thread = Threads that anyone can reply to. If a thread has a name mentioned, then its reserved for that character / member.

Getting started

Head to Character Applications, to find the bio templates.
Its useful to copy it onto word or such.
Then fill it in, using the information contained in:
Character Information -- this forum's sub forums show taken avatars, canon rules etc.
It can be helpful to look at other players bios. :)
If any extra help is needed please contact Veritas :).
After you feel happy with the bio, post it in Character applications.
When it is approved you can play in as many areas as you like, as long as a character is not in two places at the same time! (see question below.)

Please read the rest of the FAQ for other useful information, posted after questions from members.

If you need more help the staff are always willing to aid, or if neither of us are on, and you wish a fast answer and other members are present, please post in the chatbox, our members are a helpful and friendly bunch, so will be happy to offer aid. :)

We look forward to playing with you. :)

What is the rating of the site?

This site is rated PG-13.

For anything that is of a more adult nature, please use the rated area, just pm an admin for the password and URL of that area, or if you already have such, inform them or a Mod if a thread becomes X-rated, so needs moving to that area. :)

How to make an A.U canon?

Brief how to on making them.

1.) Pick an age that you feel works for them. -- (If they went to school with Spider-man then check out his age.)

2.) Martial status -- choose what you wish, we're an A.U site so they can be as in the comics or not its players choice. -- (if the other party is being played on site, please get permission first and accept a no if they do NOT want the relationship.)

3.) If the person has many powers, then drop one or two to make them A.U -- (We are limiting powers with certain canons, for help ask Veritas, we're reasonable on this only a few powers like raising the dead are totally banned. :) )

4.) History -- Keep it brief, under 1000 words is best. Canons, especially the more established Marvel / DC (etc) ones come with a lot of baggage. We've seen bios for some at 5000+ words for history before being pared down.

Basic stuff that's useful for those on site to know.

A.) Family life / childhood / School
B.) How gained powers or became anti those with powers / got their job and or joined their group.
C.) Any really major event you want in their lives, that still impacts them 'today' -- Can be canon or made up for the site since we're A.U. -- (If canon please check that it took place on site, things like Spider-man outing himself and Crises have not happened.)
D.) What they're doing 'now', i.e currant group, if the government is after them in particular...

If you need any help, then please PM Veritas.

Can I have a pre teen character?

Yes. We only ask that if the character does not have an older person who is responsible for them, i.e because they're a 'street rat', that the child is no younger than 8, at the 'time' of making the bio.

Powers for pre teens depends on the bio. Mutants / Meta humans starting to show powers from 11/12 works, younger if they've suffered a trauma to bring out their power early or are 2nd / 3rd or more generation gifted.

Age would affect: control, strength of power/s, length of time can be used for and skill with the power/s.

Swear words?

This site is PG-13.

Occasional swearing is allowed in a thread, try keep the F etc. words to a minimum though. :)

Want to be more explicit, post in the rated area, but even then keep it to being realistic for the charrie, swearing every other word or such, is going overboard, a string of swearing if badly hurt is ok in that one post, keeping it up afterwards is overkill, and looses its effectiveness.

Are characters allowed to be in many threads at one time?

Yes, with one obvious exception, please read below.

You can play in as many threads as you wish with one charrie, on here its personal preference, long as you know where that thread comes in ya charrie's timeline, (in case need to let another player know for plot), its all good.

Only thing that would get an admin cranky *picture me with a mallet :)* is being in two places at the same time, play wise.

I.e 11:59 New Years Eve, in a Night Club, and at Xaviers = a no no, unless your charrie can do a split, a la Multiple man.

Otherwise not an issue, so your character can be in as many places as you wish. :)

How do I get a sub forum/s for my character/s business?

Simply post in the Business requests thread, with the required information stated on the 'business template', and an admin will add a sub forum for you, and give you mod powers for it.

Limit to number of characters?

Original characters: The only limit to the number of Originals is the number you decide upon. We prefer to leave this to personal preference, so if you like to only have one, or like to have 20, then that is your choice.

Canons You may have 4 canons. If you want more, then each of your 4 canons needs a minimum of 100 posts, when you have that 400+ total, then feel free to take on up to 4 more canons.
If you want more than 8, this would be down to Admins discretion, so please PM Veritas.

Note: For site purposes only Marvel / DC characters count as canons as far as numbers allowed per member. :)

Types accepted on site?

Short answer = Pretty much anything, barring Pokemon / Digimon and the like, if the history / reasoning makes sense.

Dead threads

'In character' threads are considered 'dead' after 1 month of not being replied to. Unless an 'absent' notice is posted (or an admin informed of being absent), or admins know that certain characters are not 'playing' for people, then they'll be left for 2 months.

After 2 months, dependent on the reason for not being on in the absent note, then a thread will either be:

a.) Archived.

b.) Or in event of only computer busted, or such, it will be pinned, a 'warning' smilie will be added to the first post, and a note added in 'topic description' stating its ' {name of RP-er} thread, don't archive'. And given 6 months grace, then they will be archieved.

Dead threads are then archived. If wanted for play again, they can be retrived from archives by an admin.

I joined a few months ago, why have I been deleted?

There are a few answers, dependent on circumstances.

1.) After 2 months we will delete any member who has joined but has never posted a bio.

2.) Members who suddenly stop playing, with no absent note, are given a couple of weeks, if they've not been on in that time a member of staff will try contacting them. If they have still not been on within 2 months of last being on, then their bios etc will be archived and they loose all face etc claims. If after 6 months the person is still a no show then their account will be deleted.

3.) A member states they are leaving, this will result in their account being deleted.

4.) And of course on the very rare occasion that a member is permanently banned, then their account will be deleted.

Why are some bios pinned in the bio forums?

It was decided to pin bios for all the canon characters, to make it easier for people to quickly locate canon bios.
