didn't it say somewhere that jade met a european guy who wanted to grow tea or something overseas so she took him to gold's tea farm and gold gave him tea leaves or seeds or something?

pg 71 it says in 1843 a young man named robert fortune wanted to free china from the opium trade he found jade who was naive and helped him by taking him to gold's tea plantation that is some of what they got into trouble for

If you're interested you can check out Robert Fortune on wiki, he was a real person and really did steal the tea from China.
The bit about Jade and Gold helping him is slightly embellished though...
