Darkdinglu - August 7, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
i want to make a list of actors for who emma might be in the movie if there is one.

i just want to try and finish all the arguements.

the list will be made into a poll and all the entries will be in the poll.

so think hard everyone.

Nyx - August 7, 2008 05:00 AM (GMT)
anne hathaway, or possibly Rose Byrne (aussie actress who was in 2006 Marie Antoinette).

DDarkAngel - August 7, 2008 10:30 AM (GMT)
Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart (in the twilight movie looks good)...yeah

Yuna - August 7, 2008 12:56 PM (GMT)
Lol Anne Hathaway, she's my fave actress, Princess Diaries is the best!!! How old is she though?

Nyx - August 7, 2008 05:52 PM (GMT)
she played agent 99 in Get smart to(damn good film, bar annoying little kids who kept putting feet up on the back of seat and over-laughing in comedic scenes) she's about 26, born November 12 1982.

Yuna - August 11, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
Whoa, she's older than I thought, but that's about the right age right? All she needs to do is dye her hair blonde, and a super tall actor to play John.

DDarkAngel - August 12, 2008 06:01 AM (GMT)
yeah, Get Smart was good

Yuna - August 12, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
Agreed! :D

Still like Princess Diaries better though, some of the scenes there are just authentic, like clumsiness, lol, she fell off her chair when auditioning for the part, that's hilarious.

Energy - August 13, 2008 11:32 AM (GMT)
nope, no way as anne hathaway as emma, lolz it makes me shudder

DDarkAngel - August 13, 2008 01:21 PM (GMT)

ugh, disney I am seriously tired of the steryotyped rubbish that they are putting through the big screnes. HAH that beverley hills chiuauah please, is it me or is disney really starting to run low on ideas. (okay enough ranting).

Maybe anne hathaway as jade.
hmm, hows about Ashley Greene as Emma (age 21)

DDarkAngel - August 13, 2008 02:15 PM (GMT)
hey she's good too! twilight..hehe

Energy - August 14, 2008 12:04 AM (GMT)
how about anne hathaway as...nonone!!! lol

Nyx - August 14, 2008 02:04 AM (GMT)
hmm, agree

okay lets try again, hows bout Josephine Byrnes(Aussie Actress, starred in the matrix)

Michelle Yeo:Jade

Queen_Fire - November 7, 2008 05:50 AM (GMT)
I think whoever plays emma would probably best be an aussie to make it more authentic to the story line.

Yuna - November 8, 2008 05:10 AM (GMT)
We don't have alot of super famous Aussie actresses who'd fit Emma as a character that's in Hollywood ...

You're saying Anne Hathaway for Jade, but I thought Jade looks chinese not English?

darkheavenstrilogyisawesome - November 9, 2008 05:41 AM (GMT)
yeah i agree with queen_fire it would have to be an aussie!

Yuna - November 9, 2008 10:03 AM (GMT)
Michelle Yeo as Mrs. Kwan ...

theatre_addict87 - November 28, 2008 03:34 PM (GMT)
Just to throw an interesting spin on the ideas, how about CG like in Beowulf? Whether it is in the flesh or CG, i think Miranda Otto to play Emma, Cuba Gooding Jr as Leo, Will Yun Lee or Rick Yune for Simon if it was CG and it didn't matter that they are both Korean American, Michelle Yeoh could be good as Kitty, but I can imagine her more along the lines of Lucy Liu, with the more elegant Jade played by Yeoh. I think it would be fun having the stone voiced by someone like John Cleese or Ian McKellen. Chow Yun-Fat for John? Reggie Lee (Lance in The fast and the Furious) for Na Zha... I can't think of anyone for Michael or Simone at the moment.

Araziel - December 13, 2008 05:16 AM (GMT)
hey guys ^_^ big fan of dark heavens here. first time post on this forum.

I like the idea of a CG movie, especially if it has the graphics of FINAL FANTASY and FINAL FANTASY: Advent Children. energy attacks and fast action fights would look awesome!

as for Simone why not have her played by the little girl, Molly, from the Heroes series? albeit she might be a little too old for the part.

for michael i'd suggest...Sung Kang from 2F2F: Tokyo Drift. he played Han.

Meegle - December 15, 2008 04:16 AM (GMT)
OMG John Cleese for the stone, I LOVE IT! John Cleese is awesome! LOL

PrincessChen - January 7, 2009 09:58 AM (GMT)
Hmmmm ... nah I don't think Chow Yun Fat would be quite right for John what about a guy by the name of Russell Wong, he has a good look. For Emma what about Kate Beckinsale (spelling) after watching Underworld she has the right sort of attitude for Emma ... those are just my musings ... I also found a picture of guy from the last "The Mummy" movie on a horse in full regalia, with long black flowing hair ... just perfect.

FutureBoy - January 7, 2009 11:35 AM (GMT)
Maybe not serious contenders for parts in the movie (well maybe Leo is, but definitely not Simone - that actress would be seriously old by now), but these are the people I think of when I read about them in the books...

Completely crazy I know, but in my mind's eye, I've always pictured Emma as Twiggy from America's Next Top Model. Yeah, yeah I know - Twiggy is much too old, but I can't help it - that's who I picture.

As for Leo, I always think of Lawrence Fishburne when he starred as Morpheus in The Matrix.

I think of George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek/Hiro's dad from Heroes) when reading about John. Especially that bit where he says, "Chen See Mun! Who do you order?"

This is a funny one that nobody's gonna agree with, but when reading about Simone, I think of the little girl who played Annie from that movie/musical in the 80's (showing my age here!) But strangely enough, I sometimes also think of Kirsten Dunst when she was still a little girl in Interview With a Vampire.

phoebe - January 25, 2009 05:56 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, I personally think an as yet unknown actor would be fitting for Emma, somone that no one is going to have preconceived ideas about so that she can develope the character better. Emma is not decribed as being outstandingly beautiful, but attractive enough in her own way. This is another reason why I lean towards an unknown, someone that is not yet a sex icon...

And yes, the actress would have to be Australian, I mean seriously, i'd be pretty peeved if one of the significant points in the plot, that Emma is from such a socially relaxed country like Australia, but can still cope and deal with the expectations of a Chinese social life, involved with Gods who deffinately have slightly more archaic ideas... If that was not represented in a movie about the books, I would be very sceptical about the abillity to pull the series off convincingly. Ofcourse most of this is purely academic as Kylie would have to agree to allow her books to be made into movies *shrug

Why hasn't anyone thought of Jackie Chan as Mr Chen? The guy made his name through martial arts in his movies, He'd atleast be a convincing Martial arts instructor, or jet li he's another possibility, doesn't have to be old as Mr chen's physical appearance keeps changing. Lucy liu could pull of Jade probably. The guy who played Morpheus is actually not an ugly man, and Leo keeps being called ugly. I reckon he'd have heaps of battle scars, so maybe something could be done to make the actor look ugly I guess.

I have trouble forming a mental image of some of the characters anyway (except Michael), maybe Kylie, or someone could compile a list of their appearances....

shadowearth - January 25, 2009 06:02 AM (GMT)
i agree with alot of your ideas there phoebe, though in my experience books made into movies arnt nearly as good as the books themselves *points to the eragon movie and book* prime example, but still it would be interesting

ajDelta - January 27, 2009 04:21 PM (GMT)
yea i have to think that the books would be ruined if they were hollywoodised

VOPCBT - January 28, 2009 04:57 AM (GMT)
Please don't let them be attacked by hollywood!
I sort of don't want the books to be turned into movies, there's a good chance they'd be ruined.

phoebe - January 28, 2009 11:04 AM (GMT)
lol, it seems that one thing alot of us are in agreement about is that it should not be hollywoodised. So, if a movie is to be made, a home grown movie might be best.

Shadowearth, yep, alot of books that were made into movies were flops. I remember I was that nervous that they'd screw up the lord of the rings that I was nearly physically sick before the movie... LOL, but atleast that one was done really well. I was a bit sad about some of the stuff they missed out on, but on the whole was a very good representation of the books.
*click, idea....... What about Peter jackson as the director, Orlando bloom as Gold, Cate Blanchett as Michael's Mum. Hmm, it might be safe in Peter Jackson's hands. The Demons'd be half convincing atleast.

Mitc-hell-c - March 3, 2009 09:37 PM (GMT)
I Recon Kylie Should Be Left For The Casting:P I Would Love Movies To Be Released From This Series. But One Person I Recon Should Be Recommended To Play Simon Is Jet Li lolz

Nyx - March 16, 2010 10:55 AM (GMT)
Director: David Slade (Yes he did Eclipse, but he's known for doing really "dark" stuff). Or someone like Quinten Tarantino. Christopher Nolan could work as well.

Jade: Ziyhi Sang
Gold: Takeshi Kaneshiro
John: Chow Yun Fat
Simone: Suzuka Ohgo
Emma: Charlotte Riley
Leo: Ernie Hudson
Simone Wong: Jet Li
Kitty Kwok: Michelle Yeoh
Louise: Famke Janseen
Rhonda: Rosamund Pike
Michael: Cameron Bright
White Tiger: Aaron Eckhart
JBB Stone: Stephen Fry, John Cleese, Michael Sheen
Monica:Harriet Walter
Louise: Anna Paquin

Just a thought.

I don't know why everyone think she can act, she always looks like she is about to throw up or something. Agree, worst actress ever.

Charlotte Riley is a suggestion... yes she was in Wuthering Heights as Cathy and though of British origns it doesn't matter. There really aren't many decent Australian actresses anyway. Other than Cate Blanchette and Mia Waisakowski.

John: Donnie Yen

hehehe dont no how to link(sorry)

DDarkAngel - April 12, 2010 09:41 AM (GMT)
dont think so lol

phoebe - April 12, 2010 09:47 AM (GMT)
technically John could be played by several male actors as he can change his appearance at will, or else some hardcore make-up. They just have to have black hair, or have had black hair in their youth.

Sarah O.O - April 12, 2010 10:11 AM (GMT)
i see ur point.....i think one actor would be goosd..but i do like the thinking of a couple of actors n yes hard core make up

Nyx - April 13, 2010 03:23 AM (GMT)
a lot of actors do die their hair so it wouldn't really matter who is chosen just as long as there good at Martial Arts. otherwise John's character would be way to similar to James Bond.
