Title: CDC crashes/quits after splash screen?
Nacnud - March 12, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
Sheepsaver seems to be working well for me with System 9.02 - eg. it boots, runs applications like the system profiler (that's all I've tried).
But the Color Dark Castle demo when launched only gets to the splash screen and then immediately quits?
Are there any minimums I should be setting the system to? eg. screen size, colors?

Make sure you are giving it enough memory (and that you are giving the whole machine enough).
As ever with Classic MacOS, try removing any excess extensions and turning of virtual memory...
Other than that, well SheepShaver is a long way from perfect, so maybe it is just catching a bug. I don't have a copy of CDC to test with my version I'm afraid.

He was using the demo, which you can download here:

It works close to perfect on mine, I mean, it runs slow due to my computer, but, it only crashes occasionally when quitting, but can be restarted and works fine.

I had the same problem a while back. Here's what I did to fix it:
"Fixed it! Apparently Color Dark Castle will not run if sound is not setup. I went to Apple Extras -> Sound Control Panel --> Sound, selected Sound Out, and clicked Built-In. Then Color Dark Castle loaded."

Yes, it came out in 93/94. I don't think it is available to purchase any longer.

This is correct, you may be able to find a copy online if you search enough though.
