Title: New Water vs. Lava poll
Description: Which is better?

I've tied up the voting. I'll always pick water. Lava wouldn't make that rushing water sound. For some reason I always thought those levels had more atmosphere when it was water. Might have something to do with the fact that they were blue in the first version I ever played, the C64 version.
Jon God - February 5, 2008 05:31 AM (GMT)
Water here, but only by a small amount. I like them both.
Action Jack - February 5, 2008 07:35 AM (GMT)
Lava. Fits with the fireball theme so much better.
Jon God - February 5, 2008 07:38 AM (GMT)
Aha, it's no longer a tie!
lonerook - February 5, 2008 07:39 AM (GMT)
Of course it's not a tie, since there is only one correct answer: Water! ;)
PS. As already noted, lava doesn't splash.

Water is the way forward. Lava has delusions of grandeur, and makes no sense. All who say otherwise need an appointment with the emo-shovel henchman :P
I think it would have been cool if you could see Duncan's breath in the FB 2 (and maybe 3) - would have made it even better. :)
tbone922 - February 5, 2008 02:07 PM (GMT)
While I won't argue that Lava may look a bit cooler, the answer HAS to be water.
There's no WAY that anyone could march into a cavern filled with hot, sulfuric fumes like that. :P Though, I suppose, Dark Castle was never about the aspect of realism...
antiaverage - February 5, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
Water is more fitting with the medieval theme, however... I guess that's not the best reason to vote, as they do have lasers and backpack helicopters... Still, I voted water.

Logs + Water = Floating Logs
Logs + Lava = Lava

Perfect. No more questions.
Though, one could argue that those are not actually logs in Color DC, but floating slabs of rock (which is a plausible concept, though still unlikely). I dunno, though, given how fragile of a hero Duncan has proven himself to be, it just doesn't seem like he'd be able to tolerate the extreme heat of standing precariously on a slab of rock moving down a stream of lava. Anybody know how hot it gets when a volcano erupts? (I actually don't :P) I'm sure it's hot enough, though, that most humans would either melt or catch on fire just from standing there.
DuncanFanCoolDude - February 5, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
This is the way I see it. Lava is much more treacherous than water and makes getting the fireball way more badass. Besides, how much Duncan bashing is this forum going to partake in? Now Duncan can't even swim? Maybe the Genesis Duncan can't, but the Duncan I know could definitely handle it.
I think the fireball levels would just be plain boring with water, even if the original DC really had water.

Delusions of grandeur again. :)

indeed, if we're being realistic, as tbone said earlier, the air wouldn't exactly be breathable, and the logs or even stone slabs (if they were that thin) would definitely melt.
Duncan would be fried when he stepped out over it, or roasted/boiled alive ;)

Well, nobody's here to "bash" Duncan, but it's a pretty well-known fact that he's a frail hero *at best.*
However, he courageously presses on, and gets the job done in the end.
And sorry, but I'll have to disagree with you, it certainly appears that Duncan does NOT know how to swim (watch what happens when he touches water in Fireball 2, Fireball 3, or the Swamp). Neither does Bryant, since jumping into the stream *right outside his house* leads to his untimely death (unless the help screens are still enabled). ;)

Seconded. However, I would ask that it be retracted if Zack posts a release date.

Well, we'll just see. It may also be overtaken by "IT'S OUT!" :P
Sam - February 5, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Yes, I agree. If we do get an It's Out!, that should win hands down.

Yup Bryant is a bit of a spaz... and he knows it. He even admits it on numerous occasions... or at least, he likes calling himself a dork...
QUOTE (Bryant)
I hate myself for saying it - why am I acting like such a dork

QUOTE (Bryant)

QUOTE (Bryant)
I realise I've been too caught up in my own thoughts - and her - to listen to what she has been saying these past couple of minutes. I'm such an idiot.

:Dizzy: ;)
Jon God - February 5, 2008 11:47 PM (GMT)
Hahahaha. If Bryant is a dork, what is Duncan?
Sam - February 5, 2008 11:48 PM (GMT)
It really all depends on who is playing him. If I'm playing him, yes, he is a spaz's spaz. But in Richard's hands he is a god.
Richard - February 6, 2008 12:06 AM (GMT)
hehe, as per my Shield-1 out-takes quote `I have AT field' ;)

Saying "IT'S OUT!" counts as a release date to me. However, I guess it's possible someone might beat Zach to saying that. They should win a prize ^_^

Yar, I could throw out a group title?
Sam - February 6, 2008 12:55 AM (GMT)
Yeah, we already talked about having an it's out contest. But prizes haven't been mentioned as of yet. I can't remember the other thread.
