Title: quitting after entering a room

Miska - February 6, 2011 09:29 PM (GMT)
Hi!

I'm trying to play the game (version 1.1) on a Macintosh Centris, in black and white of course. There isn't any problem with starting the game, I see the main menu, I can click on anything, I can even click on Play and "start" playing. But when I choose a door at the beginning of by pressing 1, 2, 3 or 4, and the guy goes into one of the doors, the game suddenly quits without any explanation. Though the room where the character arrives appears for a millisecond, it disappears immediately and the game quits.

If you have any idea how could I fix the problem I'd be very glad to hear it.

Thanks!

Wow, I remember those!

Which Centris system are you running, and what is your CPU?

TBH, I would frankly be amazed if the game runs on anything newer than system 6 on a 68010.

MiniVMac is the way forward :)

It's a Centris 650 with system 7.5.3 on it.
Huh, I wouldn't have thought that this might be too new! Its the only Mac at home that can run in black and white...

I can confirm that Dark Castle probably needs to run on System 6, and pretty much nothing newer. I had to roll my Mac SE back to System 6 in order to get it running.
