Title: What's up?

La Porta - August 17, 2010 10:12 PM (GMT)
Where's everyone been?

People are still around; but sadly La Porta; I think you'll find this topic is already in the tl;dr category for most of our readership now ;)

{a} people would rather play computer games than chat (though some readers may actually do something with their lives that aren't computer games, I suppose :P )
{b} people who chat would prefer to do it on god-awful ichat/AIM which doesn't support multi-way chat conversations [rather than say, skype or irc, both of which are perfectly capable of that]
{c} people don't post here due to {a} and {b} hence
1. don't have enough imagination to post something new
2. have too much apathy to post in longer running threads
3. the fact that because nobody posts here anymore; nobody posts here
4. goto 3.

tldr; The board has fragmented back to individuals doing their own things. Such is life.

In other news, Satoko claims that pc-dc is in final acceptance testing; and has it on good authority that the level editor is coming out `soon'. She says she heard Ayanami-san mumbling in her sleep that the world lacked a level of definition high enough to warrant Bryant's attention, and that a effort was being put in to rectify this; however Satoko was unclear as to exactly what she meant by that.

I read pretty much ever post that gets dropped here. Not much for me to add as of late.

I think a lot of people are like Jon. I check the forum a couple of times a day while at work (vainly hoping there will be some sort of good news about the editor), but don't have much else to add. That said, we can view this as a hiatus. When the editor is released (and I still think it's "when" not "if") there will be a lot to talk about and we'll see a huge amount of posts - just like when the game itself was released.

The level editor may bring about a renaissance for this board. Until then, I shall have fun building, painting and playing with my toy soldiers.

If I may be so bold as to speak for everyone...

We've discussed pretty much everything we can about the old games, we've played DC3 to death, and we've come to the collective realization that since there's not much we can do to influence the release of the level editor that it's better to put it out of mind and hope that one day we'll be pleasantly surprised than to continually remind ourselves about a problem that we can't fix.

Y'all are a bunch of swell gents, and that's never changed. But barring the release of any additional content what else is left to say? I drop in every few weeks to see what's up, but I know that if anything big happens one of you will track me down. I do hope that day comes, but in the meantime rest assured that you've all got a place in my heart even if I don't take the time to express it so much anymore.

Aye.

All I can think of doing on the forums in the mean time, is having game nights.
