Title: CDi Dark Castle Video
Description: Video Review of DC for CDi

Finally, a full video review of the only version of Dark Castle I haven't been able to play yet. (well, also the terrible looking cell phone version)
I really would have thought it would be worse than this, but it really doesn't look half bad! Maybe I might look into getting a CDi system to check this out...

Wow, it's nice to finally see more of the game.
I could list the porting problems, but no sense in taking up so much time. :P

So I learned something from that video, it is the wizard who makes the elixirs! :Elixir:
The sounds are horrible!! Especially the :Mutant:'s. I also thought that the backdrop in Fireball 2 is really ugly.
Best line from the video: "Yeah, just go with it" (Said while talking about dumping water on the dragon)

I'm fairly sure it says that in the help screens for either DC or BDC; I forget which...
Edit - having now watched the review, I think that's one of the best you-tube reviews of a game I've seen. Honest, objective, no bad language, no ranting - just straight facts.
That scrolling would drive me nuts though, as would the load times between rooms (along with those banners!) - but they did a much better job on colouring than the PC version.
Good review - well found.

I agree! It was a really nice review. Thanks gruz!
And... I don't feel like playing this particular version (or ay other version than the Mac version for that matter). Scrolling? What?! :P

Someday I'd like to go through and play all the versions.
It seems like the Cell Phone version, and the CD-i version are the hardest to play.

Weird... they completely redid the sounds, but they still work. They're not quite the works of genius that 90% of the originals were, but they really do get the job done.
And those graphics are AWESOME.
Thanks for digging that up.

Graphics wise, it's probably one of the best ports of the game. Gameplay wise... not so much.

yup, I agree totally - I think sadly even the DOS version would ultimately be more rewarding - at least the room load time is/was instant like the mac version there. It's no fun falling in to trouble if you have to wait through 5 mins of cumulative level loads (not counting the room play times) just to get back to the great hall.

Uch, the DOS port doesn't come off as appealing in the least bit. Those sounds were actually PAINFUL to listen to, and they were made all the worse by the knowledge that they were bastardized mutations of one of the best sound designs of all time.

I think the PC version is probably the worst, or second worst version of the game.
