Has anyone heard it? I just got a copy in the mail today, and it was very surprising!

Foul was okay, I dug the first two songs but didn't care much for the last two. They covered "I'm on Fire" and the band sounded great with the exception of the singer who pretty much made up his own lyrics to the song including "Lick my face, Lick my butt" (or something to that effect.)

As for the butchers....
First I need to mention the strange use of a keyboard in an alternate version of Lost in Time, I thought my speaker might have broken when I first heard it. It was different, but not as good as the original recording.
The next song "Escape" was the best song on the record. I couldn't get over how different the butchers sounded on that song, Yoshimura's vocals dominate the recording and, with the exception of Imoriya's distinct bass style, the song lacks the traditional grit of a butchers song.
The next two songs done by the butchers are foul covers (or at least sound like it) and I didn't care for them very much. The singer from foul sings with Yoshimura through most of the songs in his trademark pseudo-japanglish.

this split was the first I've heard of fOUL a little over 3 years ago. It's not a very good starting point for getting into them, but giving their albums a shot will help you see why so many japanese indie bands respect them. (and not in a Daniel Johnston kind of way)

I don't think I've ever heard this, but fOUL is great. Listen to Rengoku no naka de and Husserliana.

How is Assistant? I was thinking of ordering that one since Husserliana was so excellent.
