Nine small blue men and women, in red robes, stared down at the assembled task force. Not one of them wondered if they should send more or less. The numbers should be plenty, adding to Earth's own heroes.

Before them stood, Hal Jordan, John Stewart, The Ion, Kyle Rayner, Killowog, Guy Gardner, Arisia, Katma Tui, Gnort, Ch'p, and a rookie, chosen for his race's natural abilities, Claz'tch Unkrezot, an alien made entirely of energy.

"You have been selected, to help bring the entity known as Prime back to Oa, to serve out the remainder of his sentence. You will aid Earth's heroes, and one of our own. Failure will mean the eradication of everything that is. Go now, and make firm your will."

To Killowog, the sent a special message. Find, among those on earth, a suitable candidate for a ring, and give it to her. We will explain, if this crisis is averted.

Guy smirked as he turned to his fellow Corps. members. His willpower spurting out of his ring, almost as if it could wait to be used. "Alright fellas, you heard the munchkins! Let's move out...oh, and let's stay bright out there!" Shooting off into the Oan sky and out of atmosphere into the depths of space.

Rienna walked along the streets of Metropolis with a couple of her friends. Her freshman year at Metropolis University had been a trying one and she was glad to have a break for a few days.

She pulled her crimson hair back behind her ears, smiling as the warm sun beat upon her face. All of the girls carried shopping bags and were discussing which store to head to next when suddenly a soccer ball came bouncing out of a near by alley and into the street. A small child came sprinting out after the ball, running into oncoming traffic. All three girls saw it. Rienna's friends screamed.

Terror flooded through Rienna, even as she acted. She ran into the street, more afraid than she had ever been in her life. She grabbed the little boy, wrapping her arms around his chest and picking him up as she leapt out of the way of an oncomung truck. The two of them landed hard on the pavement. Rienna screamed and threw her body over the boy as a car from the other direction locked up it's brakes, the driver laying on the horn as he swerved, narrowly missing them before screeching to a halt on the sidewalk.

"I'm sorry, miss" the little boy said as Rienna stood and walked him out of the street. He took his ball and ran back down the alley as she walked to the closest bench she could find. She sat down and started crying, trembling uncontrollably as her friends tried to comfort her.

The giant and brutish looking, Green Lantern known as Kilowog stopped as the Guardians summound him. He put out his right hand and opened it up... a Power Ring then floated into his palm... he just looked up at Guardians...

"A new recruit to join our ranks!" Kilowog said. He closed his hand into a fist and then left. He was soon on his way with Guy and the others.

Kyle's stargate opened up in the Metropolis skyline. He was aware Kilowog had an additional mission here. "Kil.....get your stuff done, and head north. The rest of us..."

Hal smiled. "The rest of us are going to go stick it to Prime."

"Oh yeah, I can't wait to get my will power around that little piece of S#$%!" Guy's cocky smirk getting wider as he sped threw the blackness of space. At the forefront of the pack of the small group of Lanterns, all of them elite, but of course Guy saw himself as the best. He was the first Lantern inducted into the new Honor Guard after all.

Kilowog nodded towards Hal, Guy and the others.

"Leave some for me... I wanna get my hands on Prime aswell." Kilowog said. He then turned his attention to his main priority, finding the newest Green Lantern. He opened his hand and then spoke to the ring...

"Go... find your new owner." he said with a soft tone to his voice. With that the ring spiraled out of his hand and almost danced in the sky for a while. Then in a sudden burst, it blazed away leaving a green streak in its path. Kilowog followed after it hoping that it would find who it was looking for and soon.

Rienna gathered herself and got up off of the bench. She was still trembling slightly, her nerves still jittery from the events. Several bystanders had come over to tell her what a courageous thing she had done, what a hero she was.

Rienna thanked them all and simply said that she only did what she hoped any good person would do. She and her friends left the crowd, walking down a side street and emerging along another main city street.

After several minutes, and several window-shoppings, Rienna finally began to relax. Just as things were getting back to normal, she started to feel odd, as if something or someone was calling to her from some great distance. She looked up in time to see a tiny green trail soaring across the sky overhead, followed by a larger one. She recognized the trail. She had followed the progress of Earth's Green Lantern for some time now.

The Power Ring given to Kilowog to find the newest Green Lantern seemed to be leading him in a game of cat & mouse. They had passed over one spot nearly several times...

"They must be near by." Kilowog said. Kilowog treated all power rings as if they were actually people. As they passed over one spot ofr the third time the ring came to a stop. It hovered for a moment before it rocketed to the surface. It the stopped in front of a young woman, she had just saved a little boy from being run over. Kilowog just hovered in the sky as the ring danced around the young woman, waiting for her to open her hand.

"Found you." Kilowog said to himself with a smile.

The two friends with Rienna squealed and backed up a bit. Rienna was completely startled and jumped back a step as the ring suddenly appeared in front of her. Her eyes never left the ring as it danced about her.

"This cannot be" she thought to herself. She had studied Green Lantern lore. She knew the significance of the event.

Rienna looked up and saw Kilawog, hovering high overhead. "There must be some mistake" she said as she looked at him. The ring continued to dance around Rienna, waiting for her to open her hand.

The large frame of Kilowog slowly lowered himself to the ground and touched down in front of Rienna. His appearance was more than enough to cause several bustanders to scream and run away. Kilowog just let out a chuckle, then turned his focus back to Rienna.

"The ring can do alot of things but mistakes in choosing its owner is not one of them." Kilowog said. He took a step back and smiled... "You got Green Lantern written all over you!" he added. Realising that time was running short he looked at Rienna...

"I know that this is a lot to take in but fate has called you to play a vital role at this moment in time. Close your eyes and just listen to the ring, you'll know what to say." Kilowog said as he hoped she would make the right decision.

"No Way!" Rienna's friends shouted as they watched the event unfold. "Girl, you've got to take that ring!"

Rienna ignored them. She focused solely on the ring as it danced around her head. Her heart raced. This couldn't possibly be real. She had dreamed this impossible dream since she was a little girl. Rienna prayed that she wouldn't wake up.

Rienna closed her eyes. Slowly, hesitantly, she opened her right hand. The ring stopped in front of her, before slipping over her slender middle finger, resizing itself to fit perfectly.

A brilliant emerald light exploded from the ring, encompassing Rienna's body. Her clothing vanished as it was replaced by the form fitting black and green costume of a Green Lantern. She could feel the immense power flowing from the ring. It was dangerously intoxicating. Had she not been pure of heart, Rienna could have easily been corrupted by it. She slowly opened her eyes, looking at her friends. "Oh my god. I know a Green Lantern! How cool is this?!" one of her friends asked. Rienna grinned at them, her heart beating so fast, she thought it might jump out of her chest. She tried desperately to stop her hands from trembling.

Rienna looked up at Kilawog. "I'm ready" she said as she tested out her willpower, floating a few feet off the ground.

Kilowog was impressed, Rienna was already able to hover off the ground.

"Not bad for a rookie!" he said. He then realised that time was growing short. He needed to join the others.

"Lets go..." Kilowog said as he lifted off the ground, he looked to Rienna... "Think it and the ring will do it for you." he added. He continued to rise up then took another look at Rienna... "I'm Kilowog by the way.".

"I know who you are" she said, reverently.

"Think it and the ring will do it for you."

Rienna smiled. "Wash my car" she thought, nearly bursting out in laughter. She was giddy with excitement.

"Following you" she said as as she concentrated. It took her several moments to figure it out, but was quickly rushing skyward after Kilawog.

"Don't forget about finals!" Rienna's friend shouted from the street, far below.

Kilowog had forgotten that he was recognizable here on Earth, after the dissolving of the Green Lantern Corp all those years ago, he had come to Earth to fight along side Hal, Kyle and the others. He waited until Rienna was at the same level as he was...

"Nice work! Remember to relax and use this muscle!" Kilowog said as he pointed to Rienna's head. Indicating that she had to use her brain... "And it helps to have a bit of this." Kilowog added, patting his own chest. "I can tell that you gotta lot of heart!" he added. With that he just grinned and then blazed away... a green trail following behind.

Kyle, in full Ion effect floated over the city as the two Green Lanterns soared skyward. "Alex has been in touch. He's got a plan, and it sounds pretty good. Right now, he's got five teams engaging Prime's forces......and we're the hammer that's about to fall." Kyle looked at the newest member of the Corp, and smiled.

"I'm Kyle......or you can call me Ion. Welcome aboard, and sorry to have to inform you that your first mission is going to be a serious trial by fire."

"Don't worry. Stick with me sweety, and you'll be just fine." Guy said with a cocky smirk on his face. His ring spilling out willpower. He then looked over to Kyle and the other Lanterns. "Well, what the hell are we waiting for Lanterns? Let's go bust some heads!"

Kilowog turned to Rienna...

"Stay close to me or one of the others. I don't want you to go on some heroic spree." Kilowog said. Sure Rienna was now a Lantern abd she had displayed some impressive skills already... but she was still a rookie. He then turned back to the others... "Guys right, what are we waiting for?"

Eleven green trails lit the northern skies, as the special strike team of the Green Lantern Corp closed on it's target. Kyle let the power well up inside of him. Drawing from both the Oan battery, and the Starheart, as Ion, he could command near inconcievable power. He wondered if it would be enough.

"Hal.....?"

Hal Jordan, perhaps the most famous of the entire Corp, looked down at the frozen waste they approached. "That machine is priority one. Alex's plan still seems intact, so we'll go along with it. Arisia, Ch'p, Gnort.....go with the two rookies.....Guy, Kilowag, get them there and back safely. The rest of us are going after Prime. Kyle, hang back.....I want the power of Ion to come as a bit of a shock to him."

Guy stopped and turned to Hal. Floating in front of him above the frozen tundra. "I don't know what the hell made you think that you're in charge, Jordan, but if anyone of us is getting a piece of Prime...it's me." And with that Guy took off, an emerald trail forming behind him as he took off for the fortress at top speed.

As Guy hurried off, Prime's sensors in the Fortress alerted him to the final arrival of the Green Lantern Corp. His responce was immediete....this was very personal....

As the others made ready to follow, a hazy emerald image of Alex appeared before them. He did not look well.

"The ring....it will sustain my life, right? It won't let me die?"

Hal nodded slowly, then shook his head. "Only to an extent, Alex. Don't push it's limits......your body can still be damaged beyod repair, and sooner or later, the ring will fail to sustain you."

"But....if my body is functional...it'll keep me alive?"

Hal nodded slowly. "We're going to try and stop him, Alex. We have solid veterans, ready for what he is. And we have Ion....who, among other things, can keep us at full charge. Don't do anything rash."

Prime struck, moving at speeds approaching the speed of light, as he collided, in mid air, with guy Gardner.

"Time to die, little Lanterns!"

Far away, in the emergency room, of a hospital in Metropolis, Alex Masters sat slowly up. His ring had scanned his body, and he was working through the process of using that knowledge, to bend the energy of his ring to filling in the gaps, where his body could not.

"Prime......if she's hurt, I'm going to tear you apart......"

Kilowog made his way towards the machine. His understanding of complexed machinary would be of great assisstance to him and the team. He just had to get past the Supermen robots that stood in his path. He looked at his team amtes and then he smirked...

"At least we're not fighting the real deal!" Kilowog said as he powered up his ring and projected an image of an Earth based tool. A screw-driver. He chuckled... "Lets get to work!" he said as he charged at the enemy robots.

Guy smirked as Prime advanced on him. His ring shining brighter than ever, his will power spilling out and creating thick emerald armor around his form. "Bring it you son of a b.." His words abruptly stopped as Prime crashed into him, his armor of willpower cracking under the sheer brute strength of Prime. He gritted his teeth but held onto him. His a few of his ribs had cracked in that clash, yet he still smirked. He raised his ring into the air, willpower forming into the head of a sledge hammer. "Got ya punk! Let's see you dodge this!" He brought the hammer down, so to speak, right in the small of Prime's back with enough force to turn a normal human's spine into jelly.

Rienna flew alongside the others. Her stomach was in knots with fear and excitement. She was a Green Lantern. She couldn't believe it.

As they crossed the horizon and the machine came into view, Rienna's eyes went wide. "my god..." she whispered. Battles raged all about the monstrous machine. Several heroes were taking on what looked to be Superman, and they weren't faring well. She could see broken robots strewn about the landscape and more still fighting in sporratic groups. She saw a girl in a pink cape, struggling to her feet off in the distance. She saw another girl running up through the snow towards the machine as several other people attacked the structure itself.

Rienna wanted to give her ring a test run. SHe shot ahead, heading straight for the structure. Concentrating on her ring, Rienna thought of a drill. She focused her mind, concentrating on nothing but that as her ring glowed brightly. An emerald beam shot out from her, forming into a giant drill bit.

Holding herself steady, Rienna slammed the emerald drill into the side of the machine, watching it spin against the nearly indestructible metal as she struggled to maintain her focus.

Kilowog plowed through the Supermen robots with ease, but then the hard part arrived as he approached the machine. He studied the surface and then noticed some of the design specs.

"Seems simple enough." Kilowog stated as he proceded to try and cut into the machine. At the same time he had to keep an eye out for any attacking Superbots.

While some of the Green Lanterns attacked the machine......the remaining ones more than had their hands full dealing with an enraged Prime. Katma and John had already been taken down, in swift attacks, and Guy and Hal were facing his full onslaught, their constructions shattering at his blows. Neither of them could maintian much longer, with that much backfeed.....

"I'm done waiting, Prime. Guy, Hal, Go help the others. It's time to see just how powerful the Superman wannabe truly is...." Kyle, in full Ion effect, hovered nearby, radiating the full power of the energy leftover from the creation of the universe. He raised his hand, and a beam of pure energy struck Prime full on. Ion's words left little room for arguement.....

Kilowog cut several openings into the massive machine. In doing this, he exposed several points of weakness. The openings were enought to drop the machines out put to 60%, but that wasn't enough. Kilowog was in the middle of cutting another hole, he was then hit from behind by a Superbot. Thankfully he was shielded enough to not suffer any real damage but it still hurt.

"Damn annoyance!" Kilowog said as he used the ring to create a large robotic hand. He then used this to hold the Superbot and shove it into one of the small holes he had cut out.

"Someone cover my back!" he yelled out as he returned to cutting open another hole. "A few more and this thing should be ready to blow!" Kilowog said to himself.
