'They' may not have been, but some individuals certainly were, in the same way that the Catholic Church is not into paedophilia, yet some individuals are unable to restrain themselves. 'You fuck small boys' was a pretty good insult back then, as it is now. In attempting to discredit Octavian's claim to Caesar's mantle, Mark Antony claimed that he and Caesar were gay lovers, and that Caesar was not thinking strait when he named Octavian his heir. That's a damned lie, cuz Caesar would never do such a thing.

HAIL CAESAR!

Touche, Yels.

The Roman Empire, Oob? Well, I'm sure that Caligula was a bit of a nutjob, true, but according to his wikipedia article which I perused after watching that artistic masterpiece, much of the movie was surmised, contrived or based on the writings of random Roman dudes who may have just been attempting to discredit him.

Also, they left out the pedophilia, which was supposed to be fairly prevalent in Roman times.

Yeah, after they murdered Caligula and set up Claudius on the throne, the Praetorian Cohorts were keen to come off as liberators and not as regicides. The Praetorians could dispatch emperors at will, so they had to be kept happy. Along with paying large amounts of money to the Praetorians to thank them for the stellar job they did on Caligula, Claudius leaned on the historians of the day and made them write a history in which he and his Praetorian guard come out smelling like roses.

Went to see Munich last night. Eric Bana is quite possibly one of the best fucking actors around at the moment. It took a while to get off the ground, but it had a great sort of presence. You could feel this guy's pain. At the beginning it seemed to be preeetttty pro-Israel, but there's a scene in it in which Bana's character and a Palestinian talk political differences without realising who each other are. It ran a little too long, too - around three hours - but all in all, it's worth a watch. Especially if you've studied anything to do with Israel/Palestine/Munich Olympics Hostage Massacre or are just interested in that sort of arena.

7.895467/10.

Heat
Fucking awesome. Robert DeNiro is the master theif and Al Pacino is the cop who must catch him. My two favourite actors of all time face off and kick some ass with m4s.
9/10.

Saw King Kong. It wasn't bad. Was a bit long though (just over 3 hours). I hadn't seen the originals or any of the remakes, so it was all new for me, although I pretty much knew about the Empire State Building scene. According to the Wikipedia article, PJ made quite a few hidden references to the original and 70s remake, so people who have seen those may enjoy trying to spot them.

yes, this movie was done awesomely, the tone of the movie follows the guy's own outlook so that its quite pro-Israel at the beginning and becomes much less so as he becomes disillusioned with what his government are making him do. The shift is done so well you don't even notice its happening

awesome.

I just saw one of the best films ever made!!!!!!!! I just finished watching 'Der Untergang' on DVD (it costed me $4.00 for an overnight hire) and it was absolutely brilliant, the plot (or should I say, history) was compelling, the acting was supurb and the portrayal of the last fews days of Hitler's life was very real. Bruno Ganz who played Hitler looked exactly like the Fuhrer (and that's not a compliment). The best thing about a German made movie on WWII is that factual accuracy will be a key point.

There you have it, I've never rated a film this highly in my life before and there's no doubt it deserves a big 10 out off 10!!!!!!!

*Resists the urge to throw a Nazi salute in excitement.*
