CortinaDave - December 26, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
FANTASTIC! Onslow's Cortina lives!!! Not been on the road since they finished filming in 1995 according to DVLA so i thought it must have been scrapped. this car MUST be saved  would be great to go round the show's with :xtc:

duncr - December 26, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)

duncr - December 26, 2006 11:47 AM (GMT)
ah that explains why it dont mean owt to me, a series I never saw, like most of them

cbowditch - December 26, 2006 02:45 PM (GMT)
Keeping Up Appearances is a great show. I always joke with my partner about her likeness to Hyacincth because they both hate Cortinas so much. It doesn't go down well though

Yorkie_racer - December 26, 2006 02:49 PM (GMT)
I hate the programme....annoying snob bullys her husband....really don't get the comedy in it....very cringeworthy...and as for the car....I wouldn't give more than a ton for it......just because its been on tv doesn't mean its worth any more than any other heap of a mk4....because thats all it is.

MrT - December 26, 2006 03:07 PM (GMT)
I'd buy it just to have a laugh at the shows

How much is it Rob??

bortaf - December 26, 2006 03:13 PM (GMT)
Not heard yet mate, it's the same thread on passion ford as the Mk2 crayford i posted about yesterday as well
http://www.passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=225116

funny what you fall over when searching for old rally cars

chris - December 26, 2006 07:12 PM (GMT)
needs to be left like that thought... no minting it up ;)

Bodie - December 26, 2006 07:27 PM (GMT)
i'm amazed too that it still exists after more than 10 years :o you'd have thought the beeb would have just scrapped it at the end...maybe someone on the production team bought it? how old are those pics of it rob,any idea? looks pretty much as it was still, apart from different colour wing.wonder if the plates were genuine,as the ones on richards' mk1 rover 200 weren't standard issue, they were something like D*** HXL if i remember it right, which is a non existant area plate, never issued XL as a area plate on newer style numbers, only as a private plate bought in. ;)

Darren Lewis - December 26, 2006 07:35 PM (GMT)
i bet its lovely underneath

Bodie - December 26, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
if its been sat on that grass for the last 10 years it will be a bucket of shite, the 2 i've had out of fields were like the bulletproof bomb from wacky races,or the flintstones car,i.e. no floor.....

CortinaDave - December 27, 2006 06:37 AM (GMT)
Plates are genuine... it comes up on a search with DVLA. last taxed 1995. I disagree that its not worth more than any other crud fest mk4... I reckon it would fetch a few quid on ebay. Cars that have been used in well known TV series always fetch a premium, and die hard fans of the series will pay over the odds to own one of the star cars. Its only not worth it to you because you dont like the prog!

Would be a shrewd move for someone (who can weld  )to buy it for a hundred quid or so then put it on ebay and watch...

No it's not worth it to me because I don't like piles of rubbish....the programme doesn't even come into it......if it is a cult prog then I can understand it, this however is anything BUT a cult prog...its an ordinary cringeworthy situation comedy.

bortaf - December 27, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
Bloke has just got back to me, the car is at work (his boss brought it with the crayford) let you know how mutch tomorrow i hope :D

Deffo am mike
have a Mk3 Di engine and box waiting for a home B)
Just bought me old LDV ambulance/camper back for 50
sold it to the bloke 2 years back on the condition it stayed in my name so i could get the reg plate back off it, after 2 years waiting he's done all the welding and bought a boat :duh:
so i have FAT36Y back, taking it for the MOT next week :D

Onslows corty :
No-ones asked about it yet TBH i really need a truck to get back to work but if it's cheap enough i spose i could store it for a while till somone is interested :)

Bodie - December 27, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
ok rob i will try and get the details on the recovery for you,far as i know it only needs some minimal welding, most of its been done.think its a 2.0 petrol in it .but much better with the diesel  do thediesels fit straight in the mk2's then? as the mk1's had that bullnose front on them to accommodate it i believe.

markrobson1 - December 27, 2006 11:17 PM (GMT)
theres quiet a few mk2's come up on ebay mike with mk3 running gear, so it cant be to difficult. you are right about the bullnose mk1's, as far as i know the 3 litre mk1's had to be bullnose as well.

bortaf - December 27, 2006 11:42 PM (GMT)
A few mods and if i use the MT75 i'll need a hybrid prop but other than that straight in, or theres EFi to concider

maurice - December 27, 2006 11:50 PM (GMT)
ill be interested in buying the Mk4 just let me know how uch and ill sort the cash out but its a defo for me
