Post up a quick summary of how you found your first game. What did you like, what didn't you like etc.
I'll kick it off. Bought the game at the insistence of my lad (11 years old) who read the rules before me but was able to quote them back verbatim (strange boy!). I played marines and pretty much survived unscathed. Easy for me as I roll an uncanny number of sixes including one by my flamer guy to survive combat immediately prior to him flaming the control room.

Well on my first mission i both won and cheated.
We hadnt quite got the grip of the 2+ flamer kills everything so i walked the flamer up and shot every section he moved into believing that he wouldnt be hurt by it.
my second mission on the other hand was better as i won using the rules properly. Overall i found it very fun and enjoyable though.

Due to my brothers slightly lax grasp on tactics (not so lax now!) I won my first game (Mission 1) as he had opened the door to the objective room to hide some 'stealers inside, I simply rounded the far corridor corner, fired the flamer and torched the room and all 3 stealers inside...

First game was a solo (used the rules here for it,) and have to say I love the way this new issue plays.
The overwatch/jam situation allows for much more breathing space for the marine player, then again, the new turn and move 1ap for genestealers makes those opportunities for sustained fire harder to engineer.
The board and door pieces are fantastically sturdy and really give a good solid feel to the game, as do the models themselves (even if the stealers are a tad, um, spiky.)
I played the first mission out 3 times with two wins for the marines and one for the 'stealers. The first win was a skin of the teeth job, with only the flamer and the rearguard surviving (and with the rearguard about to get eaten.) The second was a total shut out, no blip ever got within six spaces of the flamer trooper thanks to some lucky overwatch rolls. The third game ended when three x3 blips appeared at the nearest entrances to the control room and (having been converted) proceeded to literally waltz through all kinds of heavy fire (including a burning section) before chowing through the squad in two turns. Ouch!
A welcome return to form for the hulk and I shall be having a great deal of fun designing campaigns with this new rule set. In fact, Space Hulk as finally supplanted Necromunda as my favourite miniature wargame (40k being a fair way down the list these days, certainly behind the original Rogue Trader and 2nd ed.)
Good job GW

My first game went totally wrong as I read loads of rules wrong and got owned by ultimate wrong rules, pretty stupidly like only one overwatch shot for a 5 space run down a corridor and playing that we both needed a 6 to kill in close assault.
Me and my fiancee have played missions 1 and 2 now and after playing mission 1 so badly it hurts we played mission 2 really well. It came down to just Brother Leon against 7 genestealers that Brother Noctis had managed to thin out. Leon backed down a corrdor shooting out the door at the end of the corridor giving him a good line of sight to the genestealer advance, as they rounded the corner 3 were splattered across the walls, 3 more shifted around the corner into a side passage and the last advanced down the corridor being killed almost immdiately. Brother Leon then backed up around a corner and waited for the remaining genestealers to open the door giving himself only 4 squares of space to kill them all, he reloads and waits for them to come. As they open the door the first is killed the next rushes forward getting only one square forward. The last came within 1 square before being mushed by Leon's high calibur shells.
In this match I also learn't that Sergent Gideon is a monster up close rivaling the effects of Brother Leon's Assault Cannon.
Fiancee says: gideon and leon suck and that she wants to play with the Broodlord, now named George.
Does anyone else call them all by the names in the book?

In the first game we played (I believe it was Suicide Mission) there were four other people on the Terminator side, and I got to control Brother Omnio (Yes, I use their names!) and was relegated to rear guard action.
Basically, I overwatched the whole game, and never jammed a single time.
Of course the next game was replete with instances of my Storm Bolter locking itself up.

I played the 1st mission this monday against my brother.
I played the Genestealers first and was able to stop his man when they tryed to get around the first junktion in the main corridor. The Stealers managed to overwhelm his Sergant and soon after that they got his Flamer.
We switched sides.
While i were moving forward an secured the main hallway, i had an hard time securing the hallway parallel to it. Then my rear guard was killed by a stealer when his stormbolter jammed and the stealer even survived a shoot with the flammer so i rushed forward quite ruthless becouse of my missing rear guard. Although my sergant and the two remaining brothers with stormbolters had to sacrifice themselfes in the process the flamer got to the target room and completed the mission whith a stealer just two sqares behind him.

My first game (of the new edition) I played the terminators in mission 1 against a member of my local stores staff, with a little bit of help from people watching I completed the mission without a loss. Last week I also played mission 1 but this time as the 'stealers. Due to the fact I hadn't read the rules yet and the other guy had only had a quick read we got the genestealers turn wrong and were placing the new blips at the end of the turn and not moving them until the next turn. As it is only unlucky dice rolls stopped me from killing his flamer and he won.
After that we had a special spacehulk night for people who pre-ordered, I was there for the next 2 missions for which we had each player taking 2 terminators and two people controlling the stealers. The first mission went perfectly, including Scipio killing 4 genestealers with his first overwatch shots in a row, his killcount equalling sgt gideons and only being beaten by Leon and his assaultcannon. Deino, the other terminator I controlled managed to get the CAT back with ease, helped by the 6 command points we picked in the penultimate turn.
The third mission went far worse for us with a more experienced player swapping for the stealers and having two terminators guarding the spawn points to our rear, whilst it stopped us from being snuck up on, meant we were slightly short of men in the centre.

My brother and I both failed in pretty much the same way. We ended up getting caught where the corridor splits into two. We tried to cover both of them and the rear, and failed miserably. Of course, we did forget a few crucial rules, most importantly Lorenzo's Parry.
Now that we've both caught on to more of the subtleties of playing the marines, things would probably go differently if we played it again. Right now, we're just going through each mission in turn twice (swapping sides).

I've now cracked how to beat the first mission as terminators. The ambush at the L shape corridor is what does for them. If you can get a terminator there using command points for the start of the third turn, you will probably be ok. Thats the earliest the stealers can start pouring through the door. However you need two good command point draws to do it. You can then flame the crossroads to contain the stealers, and either advance up one or both corridors.

If you all don't mind I'm going to write mine in a fluff style.
++MISSION STATUS CRITICAL++
++BATTLE BROTHERS MISSING IN ACTION++
++LOCATE AND TERMINATE AS NECISSARY++
Omnio made his way up the hallway, branching off to cover a nearby hallway. Adjacent to him Noctis did the same. Storm Bolter fire resounded as thier brothers fired on the doors.
Blips began to appear in Lorenzos bionic eye. They had to move before the stealers caught up with them. Rushing down the hallway the terminators kept on eliminating doors, giving the genestealers no place to hide.
Gideon watched as Zael and Lorenzo moved on the first reactor room
Reciting the litanies of vengeance Zael burst through the rooms, cutting through doors easily, he flamed each room as he entered, Then he found Aleutio.
Aleutio's eyes were struggling to stay open, he had been injured many times, but never like this, as a terminator burst into the room he gestured toward the flamer the marine carried. "Kill... he croaked" The Terminator paused for a moment, but then painfully pulled the trigger.
For a moment all the pain was gone, Aleutio could think clearly."So this is how I go out, not surrounded by hostiles or in the wreckage of a titan, but being killed by a solider assigned to my company, without even commiting a heretical act." Aleutio moved on, to a place he could think more clearly.
Gideon watched in horror as the genestealer pounced on Loreno, the Sargeant went down, then he turned around and to his horror another stealer was pouncing, his guard came up too late.
Zael re-entered the main corridor, he was attacked immediately but beat down the genestealer. Cleansing the hallway he held his position, hoping that the others could give him covering fire. He then raced across the hallway bursting straight through the door while holding the trigger, he was killed in an instant, but his hand remained steady on the trigger. All was well for Zael.

The marines were charged with retrieving the C.A.T, and 2 squads were sent! One Carrier and one Support
The brave sergeant of the Carrier squad took the CAT and got into the room to his left, while 2 marines secured the corridor ahead.
The support squad set up the assault cannon to cover the long corridor, with dark spots were Genestealers were coming from, then secured the crossings.
After a while the Carrier Sg. was on the corridor figthing the oncoming nids. he was supported by a heavy flamer, but it soonbecame apparent that he was fighting a loosing battle, when the stealers breach the other end of the corridor and coming at him from 2 side. After a while his 2 support marines were dead... and thus he himself fell to an ambush. Alone and out of reach from the CAT the Heavy flamer marine ran out of promethium and died.
Half the complex was crawling with the clawed creatures and and the CAT was on its own.
In the meanwhile the nids had figured the Assault cannon, and hit in the shadows untill they were 22 on the corridor and 4 in the sideroom. They could rush the assault cannon, till it ran out of ammo.
One marine moved in behind the assault cannon to cover his back. Then it ran out... time for the second mag!
One the 2nd shot of the new mag, the dice came up with three 5s - BOOM!
the assault cannon marine died and took the guy that was covering his 6.
Gideon was the only one left, facing 16 Genestealers in minis, and the same over again in blips!

Just had a great night of space hulk gaming last night.
First order was a nice game of suicide mission taking one of our new groups additions through the rules, he got butchered as expected but lasted much longer than any of us when we had our first games.
I take the reigns of the space marines and one of the old lads takes the genestealers, in the end I completed the objective with no dead battle brothers, seargent Lorenzo held a hallway on his own against 9 genestealers, let me just say that parry is [DELETED BY ADMINISTRATUM] awesome, best thing is? he wasn't even on guard XD
So while Jim(the old lad I mentioned) is throwing everything he has at Lorenzo(which everyone is laughing at or cheering) I move my heavy flamer marine up the rest of the hallway and spend 5 of my 6 command points to move, open and torch the command console room.
