Although there are a wide variety of strategies that work for the missions of Space Hulk, those who have been playing for a long while have found effective strategies that make winning as the Terminators quite a bit easier.

Suicide Mission is the first in the Sin of Damnation campaign and is one of the most straight-forward. I've used it as a training mission for years to teach newcomers the ropes. Despite its simplicity, when faced with a worthy opponent, this mission can become next to impossible.

A moderate rate of reinforcement on such a small map can really put the pressure on the Terminator player. Terminators need to move fast to complete the mission before the Genestealer player is able to build up a horde that can easily overwhelm them. No dilly dallying in this mission!

When I deploy my Terminators in the starting area, I put the Flamer in the very back and the Sergeant 2nd from the front. On my first turn I move the first marine over in front of the door in the room on the right. Then I move all the other Marines straight ahead. I use command points to attempt to set up the first marine facing down the hall to the right on Overwatch. In later turns, after the rest of the Terminators have moved on, I back him up to the far wall of the room to increase the distance.
I move the Sergeant down the left corridor along with one other marine and the flamer in back. I move the remaining terminator down the long corridor cautiously.
My goal is to put the pressure on the Stealers from both corridors while I advance, pumping my Command points into firepower. In the end, my goal is to set up a perimeter like in the picture below to allow the flamer a safe path to the target.

If your house rules say you have to get back off the board, this set up allows you to make an ordered retreat while watching your back as well. I've found this strategy works quite well for me.

Please resize the pics as they are causeing issues with the forum layout for me. I think that about 600 max width should be ok.

Ok, I've got this image posting thing figured out.

I hope from the pic everyone can see how I've set up the perimeter.

This is a discussion on tactics, and I know that this isn't the only way people play this mission. Feel free to critique or add your own.

Thanks, thats much better now. Anyhow tactics look good. I would suggest that you shoot as many of the doors out as possible, in particular the two going from the first room to the other non objective one. (by the way you missed a door)

I also think that managing to get a man to the corridor just out of the controll room is just not going to work well.

however the rest is well thought out.

My perimeter, allowing for maximum overwatch killzone...

The flamer can then advance behind the cover of one of the corridor based comrades...

7-0 Win-Loss on this baby so far!

I can see how this would work. I just have two criticisms.

The first is minor. The terminator in the first room could get more space between him and an approaching Stealer by backing up to the far wall.

The second is a little more important. As a Stealer player in this mission I like to leave some Stealers hiding in the control room and the corridor leading to it. With your current strategy, you would be very vulnerable approaching the control room corridor. How would you deal with this situation?

1: I prefer to keep my terminator at the back at the door, as I have had stealers survive the overwatch shooting and run past the terminator when placed on the rear wall, making it neatly into the back of the flamer. smile.gif

2: Simple solution? Flame them! tongue.gif
Also, when using this formation the stealer player only gets about 3-4 turns before the overwatch is set up in the two main corridors, allowing for easier control room clearing.

When advancing under the cover of the overwatch marines, said marines will be used/sacrificedto blow the control room door. Allowing for a long range win shot...

For some reason me and my friends have an insane amount of trouble with this mission as the Space Marines. Our strategies have been very similar to what has been posted above but none of us has yet been able to win at this mission. Either we just seem to be that horrible as playing with the Space Marines or we are just THAT good as Genestealers... for the sake of our egos we like to believe the latter tongue.gif.

We usually end up getting bottled up and killed around the first T intersection.
