I go on the EA forums and talk to everyone who is looking for a clan, but whatever you do don't use a preset message, those clans who do look horrible, I actually had a clan that told me that if my clan fell out they would take you guys under their wing! While I was advertising! Yea, I just talk to each one, talk about what they like doing. Also go on servers and when you do well, tell people about the clan.
