This week's Pokemon of the week is...

The Pitch-Black Pokemon of nightmares. #491, Darkrai.
user posted image

Ability: Bad Dreams (at the end of a turn, if the opponent's Pokemon is asleep, it loses 1/8 of it's HP)

Movesets:

Special Sweeper (Spacial Rend)
@ Leftovers/Lum Berry
Dark Void
Dark Pulse
Spacial Rend*
Calm Mind
Nature: Timid
IV's: 252 S.Atk, 252 Speed, 4 S.Def

*Darkrai cannot learn Spacial Rend, but the Darkrai from the Toys 'R' Us download has Spacial Rend, as well as the Japanese 10th Movie Darkrai

Obviously, you start off with Dark Void. Now you have a few turns to play around with. (or just 1 if your opponent switches, which is likely to happen) Try to get in 1 or more Calm Minds, but only use Calm Mind when there is no imminent danger to Darkrai. (such as when the opponent is sleeping) Don't use Calm Mind more than necessary. Afterwards, sweep with Dark Pulse and Spacial Rend.

Substitute/Calm Mind
@Leftovers
Dark Void
Calm Mind
Substitute
Dark Pulse
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 S.Atk, 252 Speed, 4 S.Def

This moveset is used similar to the first moveset. You start with Dark Void, then put a Substitute up. Now use Calm Mind until either the substitute is broken or until more Calm Minds aren't really necessary. (You should never need more than 3, but usually 1 is plenty) Afterwards, just sweep with Dark Pulse.

For those of you in the U.S. (sorry Death wink.GiF ), make sure to go the to the Toys 'R' Us Darkrai event this weekend. The event is today, May 31, and tomorrow, June 1, from 12 to 4 PM on both days.

So...out of everyone on the site, only me and Emerald Serpent went? I guess we need to make announcements of this stuff on the main page.

Hmm...Darkrai sure is an interesting pokemon. It almost matches Gengar in its shadyness and is FO SHO my fav Dark type pokemon.

Anyways, for the sweeper set...

I feel that this one is a bit...idk. I am not sure that these sets are actually different enough to warrant two different sets. I think that really, they are the same set but with one different move.

Anyways, if I had a Darkrai, if I where to have it be a straightforward sweeper I would probably go with Dark Void, Dark Pulse, Spacial Rend, and Thunder or Focus Blast. Dark Pulse hits 50% of ubers super effective, Spacial Rend hits Palkia, Rayquaza, and Giratina (also hit by Dark Pulse), and then the last move...Focus Blast hits Bliss and Dialga, but Thunder hits the godly dolphin.

However, by Uber Standards, the only things that make Dakrai stand out are its speed, and Dark Void. Its problem is that in Ubers...369 Special Attack really doesn't hit that hard, so the kinda sleep+attack Darkrai is a bit more viable. However, a Darkrai can still make an awesome late-game sweeper if the few faster things (namely Mewtwo and Deoxys) are taken out.

Anyways, another excellent PoTW. Keep it up

They are, it's just less confusing to explain them separately that combining them into one set with the option of Spatial Rend or Calm Mind.

Personally, I don't consider a straightforward sweeper to be as good as a Calm Mind set. Sure, you don't have as much type coverage, but you can make up for that with Calm Mind. But then again, just my opinion.

Exactly. There are plenty better options for sp. sweepers among ubers. Even a few OU do a better job.

*angelic vocals*

And the godly dolphin hits him back due to its 100% accuracy in neverending rain.

It's 1/16, not 1/8.
Edit: No wait, sorry. It is 1/8.

I didn't miss the Darkrai Event smile.gif

I just had absolutely no way of getting to it cry.GIF

Hopefully there'll be a Darkrai Event in Australia...

*crosses all fingers and toes with great difficulty*

Anyway If there is an event I'm using these movesets ( all depends on Spacial Rend D: )

Great movesets as always SD, cant wait for the next one smile.gif
