Title: Getting in some Reading

Vijana was lazing about for once. She was laying out on her stomach near the outdoor swimming pool, her legs kicking lightly as she read through one of the novels for class. She didn't care much for reading in general, and the only books she had read were the ones that were mandatory. This one wasn't that bad though. It was one of those stupid plays, but it was pretty interesting. She didn't think she understood everything that was going on with people pretending to be other people and the fairies and the other things. But at least she was working on it.

She hummed a lulluby from her childhood, flipping a page of her very battered book. She may have accidentally dropped it in the pool the day before, and sometimes she got food on it, but she wasn't going to worry about that. It was the words that mattered, not what state the book itself was... right?

Summary: Vijana is still and studying.

Getting settled in the place wasn't really that difficult for Gordon considering he hadn't brought that much stuff along with him in the first place. His stereo, the Wii and all of the clothes that he could fit into his suitcases. Mom and Dad had stopped at one of the grocery stores nearby and gotten him the usual hygiene stuff so he didn't have to worry about any of that either, which was always nice. Now that he was feeling kind of settled, he tossed on his old letter jacket and a pair of sneaks having decided he'd take a littel stroll around the area and see what it was like.

He certainly hadn't imagined that there would be as much grass in Texas as there was on campus. It was surely a huge change from Albequerque or even Boulder for that matter. Unbuttoning his jacket when he realized it wasn't that cold outside, he stopped and watched the various people milling around without caring very much. At least, that was until he saw the dark haired girl with a whole lot of skirts on kicking her legs and reading a book. She was hot, and not just model hot. She was supermodel hot and for a split second he wondered if he'd been stuck in some crazy porno situation. Moving closer to her and very much liking what he saw Gordo said "So, hey! I didn't think people just layed around in the grass around the school, but you're not going to catch me complaining I guess."

Vijana turned as someone with a new scent came closer. Her nose quivered slightly and she put her book down, looking him over carefully. Her gaze seemed to indicate that there was nothing he could get by her. She smiled slowly, looking at her poor book. "I'm not like most people here," she said honestly. "being out here is the only way I can concentrate on reading." She sat up, shifting to keep her skirts from going into the water without thinking. "You are the newest student here, got here about an hour ago did you?"

She was completely at ease, having decided he was no real threat. "I'm Vijana," she said, pronouncing it vee-hah-nah. "What's your name?" She scented the air again to get a bit better idea of him, watching him with a slightly predatory gaze.

Sounding out the name mentally Gordon smiled a bit, noting the fact that there seemed to be something a bit off with this girl. Something predatory. "My name's Gordon," he replied, pronouncing it gore-done and letting his eyes drink her in a little bit. "And yeah, I figure I got here about an hour or so give or take. How'd you know?". Throwing caution to the wind he decided to move a little closer to the girl and he leaned his back up against the fencing that surrounded the big outdoor pool while he looked at her.

"So do they pass out fliers or something out before new people get here, or is it just like a sixth sense that you've all developed? Because it's kind of freaky, no offense." There was a small smile on Gordo's face while he looked at the really, really hot chick and he just had to ask. "You got a boyfriend?".

Vijana watched him curiously, a little intrigued by the way he was looking at her. "No fliers. I know everyone here. Everyone knows everyone. Besides,I could smell you when you arrived." She looked at his eyes, "This school is for not so human people, myself included." She got to her feet with a gracefulness that was not human in the least, wanting to see what he was like size wise. Her estimates had been straight on and she said, "Is that how you greet people? Inquiring into their friends and the genders of their friends?"

"And just why would you want to know?" She still was looking at him with a predatory gleam to her eyes. She'd never had someone approach her like this before. Soma had been close, but much more slimy. She felt a bit like she was being hunted, though not in a bad sort of way. "To answer your question, there is a guy here... you might call us a couple," she shrugged her shoulders not really knowing what Gadze's qualified as a couple.

Maybe he'd been a little bit cheeky with the girl but Gordon couldn't help but get a little flirty with a hot girl laying in the grass. When she stood up and started asking more questions back he wondered if maybe he'd gone a little overboard by asking her what he did, but really he decided not to let it bother him so much. "You could smell me?" he asked, "I knew I should've gone a little easier on the cologne this morning."

Taking a step or two forwards, Gordon looked down at his sneakers when she said that she had a boyfriend, but then he regained a little hope at the 'you might'. It was a lot better than 'everyone says', that was for sure. "Sounds like you're not exactly sure as to whether or not you really meant that." She seemed imposing, but considering how amazing she looked, it was totally worth the risk. "And I wanted to know because you're really attractive and I figured I'd do my research before I made a pass at you or something."

Vijana nodded, tossing her book into the air and catching it with one hand, not really paying attention to it. "It wouldn't matter if you wore cologne or not. I know whenever anyone is on campus. I'm a werewolf," she said with a smile, "I have very heightened senses."

She watched curiously as he drew closer. "Not sure? I suppose I don't understand the courting system of... you," she offered with a shrug. "Where I come from, you get engaged, then shortly after married. Apparently, in your culture there's a lot more involved. Dating, exclusive, not dating, friends with benefits, I don't understand it all so I guess." She shrugged, "According to my culture half the people here are married, but I highly doubt that they believe so."

Her head tilted in an almost lupine fashion and she looked at him curiously, "Attractive?" a full smile touched her lips. "Thank you."

Shaking his head with a laugh, Gordon said "Don't mention it. I've never met a werewolf before but if they all look as healthy delicious as you do I'd consider signing up for some of that." He knew it sounded a little bit skeezy but at the same time he didn't really think this girl would have as much a frame of reference for what he was saying. The words that were coming out of her mouth were intriguing but at the same time it was a little disconcerting. Except for the fact that her clothes kind of looked like they'd come from a Ricola cough drop commercial she was a stone cold fox.

But talking about her culture, that kind of wierded him out a little bit. She was hot like a robot and didn't know about dating at all? And what did she mean about half of the students at the school being married when she regarded them? It was a bit of a boggle and he said, "Now, when you say your culture, are you like from Europe or something? Or are you like a Mormon or something? I know that most of them just kind of gloss over the date thing and head straight for marriage. Something about temples or something... I don't know. So, what culture do you come from, anyways?".

Vijana's expression turned to surprise at his comment. "Delicious?" She smiled, "Now that's a comment I can understand." She continued tossing the book around. "Actually, I was born in Italy. But by culture I mean the Rom." She shook her head, her eyes dancing, "I suppose that'd be Gypsy to you. And I assure you that's very very different from being Mormon."

She looked at him and said in a helpful tone, "You might want to go tell one of the other girls they're delicious and attractive. They might be more your type. More normal. More like you." She wasn't trying to be snobby, she just didn't think he'd be able to handle much of her, even if she did give him a chance to.

~At least I was right about the Europe thing. That's one for assumption! I feel a little bad for whatever guy around here has to put up with her all the time, cause she's kind of haughty, but her hotness makes up for it I guess.~ "I don't really claim to know a lot about Gypsies or anything like that, but I stand by my decision to call you attractive and delicious. But I'm not the type of guy to piss on somebody elses' lawn either. And I don't really think that I have a type, per se. I'm an equal oppertunity romancer as far as it goes."

Moving away from the fence and grabbing a seat in the grass, Gordo couldn't help but be a little curious and this girl seemed to be the type that shot straight. "So tell me about these other girls around campus, anyways. I mean, if you're willing to of course. I'm still getting up to speed with everything here. Guess I wouldn't mind getting a leg up on things before I go making an ass of myself. Again, apparently."

Vijana's smile grew a bit more haughty. She'd been right about him. He was ill equiped for someone like her. She stretched easily, dropping her book on the ground to lean against the fence. "Well, you can call me whatever you like, but I'm no one's property." She looked him in the eyes, "The only person you have to worry about is McNeil, as my leader." His comment had frustrated her to some extent.

"As for the other girls..." she considered. "The taken ones first? Oli Stone is blonde and an heir that animates objects, and she is with Megastar. If I were you, I'd not try for her. Megastar could hurt me, and that's not an easy task. Tat Teague is over 6 feet tall and looks like one of those models, she is with Chad, the healer here, and she becomes insects. If you don't like girls who are upfront, you would definitely not like her. Eniko is a shy girl, with two different colored eyes that can turn invisible and create magical creatures. I believe Luke, a very tall, very strong, very nice looking Australlian is pursuing her. Nadia is a curlie haired girl, pretty and a psychic. She is with Darien, a tall, lean boy who becomes fast and strong. And Daisy is a very tiny greenhaired girl with a powerful voice, she is with Rudy who is redheaded and makes drawings come to life."

She thought a moment going over the students at the school. "I believe that's all the taken ones. Tara is a girl who always wears a hat and does electrical things, Kemi is from Japan and is a telekinetic, Alex is a boxer with short blonde hair, although Michael has been following her around. He turns into animals. Serendipity is a luck manipulator, and she is around David a lot, he flies. I don't think he does much else. And there is a new girl, Autumn. She is very pale and she is human."

She had watched him the entire time, and she said, "Will that help?"

Counting off the different names of the girls she'd mentioned on his fingers, Gordo was having a hard time trying to process everything at this point. Mainly, he'd just listened to the last set of names that she rattled off because they were actually single. He didn't know or have a real frame of reference for the other girls that she'd spoken of.

"I guess it'll help a bit, although it probably would be a little more helpful if I started carrying around a notepad or something". His smile came easy and he decided to lay all the way down in the crispy grass, liking the feeling of the cold ground underneath of his head. "I take it that a lot of people don't do the whole dating outside of school thing here, considering that we're kind of out in the sticks and people in the halls can accidentally blast someone's face off with cannon hands or something, right?".

Watching the clouds pass overhead, Gordon couldn't help but continue to be intrigued by the girl. "So, what's your boyfriend do anyways? The whole mental picture thing that I'm getting over here is like total jock, built like a ceramic crapadarium, drives a turbocharged El Camino and chews dip occasionally, yeah?" Picking a piece of dry grass off of the lawn and sticking it between his teeth, he laughed. "I mean, I'm probably totally off base here and he's a giant cosplay nerd or something, but it's fun to guess."

Vijana shrugged, "It's easier for me to recognize them because I can smell them. Each person has their own scent. We spend a lot of time with one another. People tend to go to those they know, don't they?" She frowned lightly thinking of what he said. It would make sense for her to be with someone much stronger than Rally.

She shook her head. "Jock?" She thought over the word, "Oh, you mean sporty? No. He works with cars. He is like this," she sketched out the shape of Rally in the air, getting his height and size perfectly. "He is able to use his powers on cars, make them stronger and faster and fix themselves." She wrinkled her nose, "And he certainly doesn't chew anything. That is disgusting."

Gordo's eyes were impassive as he watched Vijana start measuring out the dimensions of her boyfriend. The car thing was interesting, especially because Gordo didn't know how to do much more than change a tire or do an oil change. "So he's basically a super mechanic? I guess thats something you don't really hear about a lot, I guess. Isn't it always the guys who can pick up a semi and shoot acid juice from their mouths or something like that who makes the evening news?".

Putting his legs out in front of him and placing his arms on his knees, Gordo looked across the lawn a little at the girl still chewing on the dead blade of grass. "So you said you're a werewolf, right? When you say that, do you mean like you usually see in the books and stuff where you turn into like a half-girl half-wolf kind of monster? Because I have to say I'm having a bit of a hard time picturing you with a giant dog's head on your shoulders."

Vijana shrugged, "I can move a semi. You don't see me on the news." She made it sound like it was nothing special and she thought a moment, "And spitting acid sounds very counterproductive to having a mate. Does someone actually do that?"

His next question lead her to smile a little bitterly. "The movies are not true. If you want to see a real werewolf, take a look." She waved her hand to show off her body, then stepped forward. There was none of the gore and disgusting effects, just a blink of the eye and suddenly she was in wolf form. She looked at him through eyes more intelligent than any wolf. Her body was over 4 feet at the shoulder making her a giant compared to any real canine.

For a moment she regarded him, then her ears went back, hackles up, and she started to growl low in her throat. She crouched low as if to lunge, a snarl showing fangs that belonged fully well in a horror movie, then sat down hard in human form, laughing. She placed her hands on her lap, a slightly impish grin on her lips, "Do you know," she said, batting her eyes and tilting her head beguilingly, "I can smell fear?"

"Oh shit!". It was the only possible phrase he could say that would fit the way he was feeling right now. If she could smell fear than surely she would know that he reeked to high heaven of it. "Shit, what the fuck? You can really turn into a fucking wolf? God!". It was the first real time since his powers had first showed up that Gordo had time to really freak out. He knew that coming to this school would be different, but the very last thing he could have suspected was that people would turn into wolves and stuff like that.

A slight red shimmer started to surround his face as he scrambled to get back up on his feet, and while Gordo wasn't the run away type he really didn't know how to handle this. "Jesus they should really kind of give people like a checklist and a paper bag to breathe in when they come to this school. I mean, I didn't really know what to expect but that's just kind of wild. Does the school ever catch on fire from people's brains or something like that?".

Vijana started to laugh louder, covering her mouth slightly. "If you run, I could catch you," she said sweetly, and laughed even harder. She could smell the fear rolling off him and gradually, she started to feel bad.

She kept her hand downs, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you so much." She thought a moment, "You're kind of adorable when you're afraid, if it's any comfort. And I think I'm the one that people warn about. Well, and Chad and Tat being as sarcastic as they are." She looked at him trying hard not to laugh. "I told you I was a werewolf, did I not tell you that? You really should pay attention."

She sighed, feeling a little more guilty, although still not nearly as guilty as she was mirthful. "Calm down, I haven't ever hurt another student. How can I make this up to you?" She ran her fingers through her hair.

Starting to calm down now that she wasn't walking around as a huge dog, huge blotchy spots of flushed skin started to appear on his cheeks as he slapped himself in the side of the head. "I'm sorry, really. I didn't mean to flip the fuck out or anything. It's just that I guess I really didn't expect to have my fourth wall broken all over again. Finding out I had powers was kind of a kick in the teeth for me, I guess. The last thing I ever expected was to end up in a place full of people that can do things like I do."

The red field of energy started to shimmer around Gordon a little more despite his best intents and the blade of grass that he was squeezing between his teeth went flying right out from between them and landed on the ground in front of him. "People keep asking me what it is that I do, and I don't even really know how to explain it. Did they get all up in your Kool Aid about you being a werewolf and stuff? I mean, does everyone here show each other their powers like they're comparing naughty pieces?".

Vijana was still smiling, his reaction all too numerous to her. "Don't worry. Most people react badly to werewolves. I've always been one, I was born as one." She shrugged mostly bare shoulders and said, "You shouldn't be so worried. You are with people like you."

She watched the red sparkles with interest and moved closer to him, reaching out to see what would happen if she tried to touch them. "Why wouldn't we be open about what we are here? There is nothing naughty about having gifts, being more than human." She looked him in the eye, now standing within a foot. "I am what I am, and I will never be human. To take away my powers and gifts, would be to kill me. Trust me," she offered him a sad smile, "Very smart people tried very hard, and I died several times in the process. Besides, would you get up in my 'Kool-Aid' and try to get information I didn't want to give?"

"I'm not really the Kool Aid getting up in type of guy, honestly. If anything, I'm just more of a live and let live sort. It's just really wierd meeting a bunch of people that do the same types of things that I do." Frowning just a little bit, he was still having a really hard time wrapping his head around everything. "I mean, I knew that people like us existed, but I never thought I'd be one of them. Not even a little bit." Then she started to touch him and almost everything in his mind seemed to fade away. There was a little resistance to her touch when her hand moved towards her body but her hand moved right through the field and ended up touching him.

"Did you want to be?" she asked. She frowned lightly and pulled her hand back. She moved a little closer trying to see if the sparkles had any scent. "What's so wrong being with people like us?" She reached for his shoulder trying to grab the sparkles near him.

"There's nothing wrong with it, really. It's kind of cool. It's just disconcerting to come into a place like this and find out all of the people who'll be your new friends violate ten different physical laws before breakfast." Feeling a little disappointed when her hand bounced off of his shoulder as the reddish light flared around him for a split second. "Soft touches are really the only way that people can touch me anymore. Anything comes too fast, it usually bounces right off. Sometimes it makes me bounce too, which feels really strange. I couldn't have just gotten straightforward powers like lifting up a bus or something, right?"

"Lifting things is boring," she said. The lights caught her eyes and she moved even closer, making a tapping motion she tried to catch a scent from the sparkles still her face close to his shoulder. She pulled her head back and moved around him carefully looking to see where the sparkles were. "It is much more interesting to see real powers. I have looked at Rudy's comics while he helps me to Google, and they seem so uninteresting." She was facing him again

"I don't know, turning into a giant wolf is a pretty sweet power on the scale of awesome." The sparkles were in fact scentless and the tap bounced right off of his shoulder. At least part of him wished that she'd actually been touching him instead of just trying to play around with his powers. Boyfriend or not, this girl was insanely hot, and she seemed to be someone he could actually relate to a little as well. "Doesn't it get boring when you see a whole bunch of people using them around here than? I mean, how exciting is it to watch your boyfriend fix a car with just touching it?"

Vijana stepped back, and tilted her head slightly. "I suppose so. I haven't really thought of that. It is very fun to ride in the cars he fixed. He drives like no other. It's amazing, and it is so fast." Her expression dreamy she said, "No law man could catch us if he is behind the wheel." She stretched again starting to grow a little restless. "But otherwise it is pretty boring. It seems commonplace to have a footstool running downstairs to get Oli a drink, or to have Hatch appear somewhere by accident. having Luke jump to the rooftop... it all seems so normal. I don't think anyone things twice about me breaking an arm or stalking the campus as a wolf. On one mission they didn't even mind when someone threw me into the concrete hard enough to create a crater. With my healing, it doesn't matter."

"Thats, wow. That's pretty fucking harsh if nobody even cared that happened to you." Still not very familiar with all of the names of the people at school and what they did, he pictured a sort of generic man or woman every time she mentioned someone's powers, and couldn't help but laugh at the thought of a footstool running around and getting someone a drink. "Well, when you see the other stuff that I end up doing, you'll probably be pleasantly suprised. Unless I end up going through a children's hospital or a puppy mill or something. Then it might get a little gross."

Vijana shook her head. "It's not harsh, I heal through everything. Even death." She smiled, "Haven't you watched the movies? I'm more suited to be the villian. I never die, always come back..." as an explanation she said, "I don't sleep a lot, and the television shows a very large amount of movies with people killing teenagers that have intercourse. It confuses me, but it does eat up the hours between dusk and dawn." She looked at him appraisingly, "Will I be surprised?" And then she started to laugh at the idea of him bursting through a hospital and puppy mill. It wasn't funny, but the image it brought up made her unable to stop.

Enjoying the musical sound of her laughter and joining in with her Gordo said, "Yeah, I think you'd be surprised. There's nothing quite as funny as watching somebody bounce to a stop after a quick four mile flight. The last time I actually tried using my powers in that way I tore up one of our neighbor's prize rhododendrons and ended up landing in a dumpster. That's part of why I'm here, is that I can't control everything the way I'd like. More often than not, things just happen. And in terms of movies where people kill teenagers having intercourse, you can't go wrong with Nightmare on Elm Street. They're just as funny as they are scary, if not more so."

Vijana laughed at the idea of him bouncing around and landing in trash, the images of cartoons mixing to create a humerous story indeed. She nodded, "That is the guy with the" she wriggled her fingers, "the claw things, right? My parents would not be happy knowing I'm watching those things. But it's either those or..." she flushed, "The cinemax is not very good. Usually I try to find documentaries and dancing things."

"Yeah, you're better off not watching the Cinemax late at night unless it's one of the scary movies, not Bikini Car Wash II: Fully Wet. I'm suprised that they even have those channels on here at night; you'd think they'd block them." Catching a sight of some ankle and firm calf at the bottom of her skirt, he smiled. "So you're a dancer then? Like ballet or jazz or what? There were a couple of girls in my school that did the dancing stuff. The jazz ones were pretty wierd, though." Rolling over onto his side and looking at her, Gordo laughed again. "What kind of documentaries do you watch? Like the Michael Moore crap ones, or stuff on PBS?".

"I do whatever dance I can. I have to wear the skirts," Vijana said, smoothing them, "But they don't hamper me. I do the traditional dances, belly dance, I am learning ballet, contemporary, jazz, everything." Her eyes were a light and her face seemed brighter and softer as she thought of one of the things she loved most. She spun, loving the way it felt to move. She dropped down after a moment and sat easily on the ground. "I watch histories of weapons, technology, other things. I was homeschooled, and some of the things you take for granted, I never really learned

"See, I really like watching the sports biographies on ESPN Classic and everything, but I really like shows about weapons and stuff too, like Modern Weapons and the stuff you see on the Military Channel. I was even considering going out for the Air Force or the Navy after high school, but I don't think I want them using me as a human missile or a bullet shield anymore." Seeing more of the girl's legs as she spun and suddenly wanting to go over to where she was and just start licking them, he did his best to calm down and keep himself composed. "I bet you look pretty good out on the dance floor."

Vijana shrugged slightly, "I've never danced in front of people. My family used to dance. We'd have enormous parties and dance and eat and laugh until everyone was exhausted. It was wonderful. But here? I just dance to keep moving. It's a way to be free, even if you are trapped inside." She pulled her legs up and wrapped her arms around them. "I think dancing is beautiful, and perhaps the only way to express what it is to be alive. If I could, I would dance the rest of my life away."

Feeling a little let down when she put her arms around her legs and hid them a little, Gordo couldn't help but be sympathetic. She was really hot, but there was also a real sadness that seemed to hover around the edges of her personality. "See, I'm the same way with sports. I figure, maybe I'll try to get some of the people around here to have a throwdown football game or something like that. It's good to have something that helps keep you motivated like that." Smiling and his cheeks warming up a little again he laughed. "You should dance in front of people though! If you've got it, why not flaunt it, you know?".

Vijana thought of their students playing football and she smiled suddenly. "That could be fun. I think I watched a show on it once. Looks very violent, but wouldn't it be more fun without the pads? Like rugby. I watched it once, my family tried." Her grin was a little viscious, "It was very aggressive." She deliberated on what he had said. "Where would I dance, to be in front of people? I won't invite them over to actually watch. That seems a bit rediculous."

"I'm not saying invite them, I'm just saying do it somewhere that someone's more likely to see it. I'm sure that your man'd like to see you doing it, or at least I imagine he would." His interest was piqued when she said that she'd actually seen football before, and an idea popped into his head. "Well, there's go to be at least a couple of students around here who can take a beating, right? Maybe we could set up a little scrimmage game or something where people who are hard to hurt can play with one another? That way we wouldn't need pads, although it could get kind of messy."

Vijana smiled slightly, "But I dance for me. I dance because I have to. There is nothing more to it. I don't do it for anyone else. I feel compelled to, I have to. I dance because there's something inside me that lives for it." She stretched her legs out, her skirts covering her as they should. "It would be fun to watch a game like that but I doubt I'd be able to play. I'm a little to easily excited."

Wondering what it would be like to see a gigantic wolf barreling down towards the goal line with a football clenched in it's mouth, it was time for Gordy to laugh at this one. An image flashed into his brain and he suddenly felt a little dirty minded again but he wasn't going to feel bad about it. "Maybe you could work the dance thing into the football game. I mean, you've already got the skirts, so you could be the cheerleader if it came down to it."

"Cheerleader?" Vijana cocked an eyebrow. "I don't think I'm that type of person." She eased to her feet with ease. "I've seen them on TV." In a slightly vapid voice she called out the cheer she'd heard on the television, mimicking the routine. "Let's get physical
Get down, get hard, get mean
Let's get physical
And beat that other team!" Pretending to cheer she kicked her leg up high enough she could have licked her knee if she'd wanted, and clapped. She stopped suddenly, and in a deadpan said, "Not my thing at all."

His eyes lit up when her long leg went flying up over her head and more naughty cheerleader fantasies started flooding through his mind. There was a slight look of sadness in his eye, distant but still there as the cheerleader thoughts suddenly disappeared. "That is one of the biggest shames in the world, because I'm sorry, but you could try out for any cheerleading squad in the world and get a job on it. The leg thing alone was enough to get my blood pressure up."

Vijana looked at him, her expression bland, "I'm a werewolf. I am naturally more limber, stronger, and agile than a normal human. It wouldnt be fair, and I'm willing to bet they would not allow someone with floor length skirts to cheerlead. I would never dishonor McNeil or my family that way." She smirked slightly, gliding into a seated position again. "Rally took me to Swan Lake... if I were to shorten my skirts, it would be to participate in a ballet. To dance so beautifully.

Again, the boyfriend talk and Gordo started to feel a little bite of jealousy towards this Rally guy. He wasn't sure that he knew how well he had it, and felt bad for the fact that he didn't even know the situation enough to make that assumption either. "Going to see a ballet isn't really my idea of a good time, but I guess it's different strokes for different folks, right?". Picking a few more blades of grass as he sat up on the lawn, he started tying them into knots and laughed despite himself. "So, my newest question is, does everyone get this in-depth with each other on their first day? Because if so, I might end up getting a sore jaw. I'm not used to talking this much. Just seems easy I guess."

Vijana shrugged, "I dont think he had a great time. It was more because I so very wanted to see it." She looked over at him watchig as he tied knots. "Not everyone. I'm just trying very hard not to have to read my book for homework." She pointed to the forlorn and abused book laying in the dirt. "I really hate having to be in class and work."

Laughing out loud and covering his mouth with his hand to stop it, Gordo looked over at it and said, "Holy crap, where did you get that book? I don't even know how you can read that thing!". Standing up and moving around closer to the book, he squinted and laughed. "I'm not trying to be an asshole or anything, but if that book had eyes there'd be little tears dripping down the sides of it."

"Hey!" Vijana said, "It's fine and readable. It just maybe was dropped a couple of times, and I forgot I had set it down in the wooded area for a few days." She picked it up and smacked it against her hand sending a plume of dust upwards. "It's fine. I'm getting to the end, Thank God."

Almost choking as he started laughing again, Gordo shook his head and kept his eyes on the poor book. "Have you ever heard of Spark Notes? Because honestly, if you don't want to have to read the whole book, what you do is you buy them and they have a little summary of everything that happens so you can pass any tests that your teachers give to you about them."

"So I don't have to read boring stuff like this?" Vijana asked, "Why has no one told me this? Can I replicate it?" She looked very excited. "I had to read all of Beowulf. Do you know how boring that was? There weren't even any wolves. I hated it. It took me a long time to get through it, and when I turned in my paper I got a very low grade because I dropped my notebook in a puddle and part of it couldn't be read." Crossing her arms and starting to pout she said, "I don't even see why that is important. Who cares."

Replicate? That word just didn't register with Gordo although he remembered something about a *replicator* somewhere in something that he'd read when he got there. "I, I don't know that *replicate* means, other than making a copy of something. I mean, you could buy a copy at a bookstore and then use it to do your papers." Feeling a little bit like he'd been left in the dark on this one, he smiled. "And you have to do papers that people can read so they can grade them. Basically, it's so they know that you know what they were talking about. I'm not a huge homework fan, but I'm trying to keep my GPA around a 3.5 at least so I can make a decent college."

"I don't see the point of doing homework. I'm not going to college," Vijana said, wrinkling her nose at the thought. "I can barely stand it here. You'll see the replicator eventually. It gives out wonderful food. I love to eat."

"So what, it's like a big refrigerator or something? I guess I just don't get it yet." Interested in what it was that the girl would do besides going to college, Gordy just had to ask. "So, what will you go and do if you're not going to college? Are you going to do the whole job thing, or what? Or marry that Rally guy. Figure if he can fix things just by touching them he'd be able to open up one hell of a mechanics shop right?"

Vijana shrugged, "I don't know who I'll marry. I could work security like my father did, doing the 'white hat' work with safes. I could do the fortune reading like my mother. I could travel," her eyes began to glow with the light that showed how happy she was at the thought. "I could move across the country and just see what places I could find. I can take care of myself, and I know I would be able to not only survive, but to live happily."

~Remember, she said if Gord, not who. That means she's already got it on her mind, so maybe you should take a step back and not go falling in love. But admittedly, she's so fucking hot!~ Listening while she talked about moving or doing security work or, of all things, telling fortunes. "I still don't know what I'm going to do. Figure I like math okay, so I might try to be an accountant. I also like doing physical stuff, though, so I've considered teaching gym, doing the whole sports medicine thing maybe."

Vijana nodded as he spoke, thinking he sounded like a very boring person. Who wanted to be an accountant? Wasn't that what people did when they ran out of any other options? It always struck her as one of those jobs people without souls ended up in. As well as gym and sports medicine... she shook her head. "You should try for much more than that," she said looking at him with sympathy. "I can read your fortune if you like, see if there's anything better."

Gordo had never really been the type of person who was interested in seeing what the future held before it actually happened, but he was interested in finding out whether or not there was anything to what she actually did. "Who knows? I might end up doing something a little more important than that," he said with a laugh, "but I guess I'd be interested in hearing what the cards have to say. Never know when there's something you can find out, right?".

Vijana shook her head, a small smile on her lips. "You really don't." She pointed to the grass and grabbed his wrist, "Come, we sit." She sat him down and slid to the ground beside him. Pulling from the folds of her skirt a small bag she revealed a set of beautiful and antique cards. A silk cloth came after and she set it down on the grass, then began shuffling after a few minutes she set the cards in front of him. "Cut the deck as many times as you like."

Not really having any choice but to sit down when she grabbed onto his wrist, Gordo sat down where she told him. He didn't want to be too skeptical or anything. He also didn't want to end up screwing her cards up so he cut the deck three times and then handed the cards back to her.

Vijana smiled and did one more shuffle then began laying them out. She was quiet as the first three cards came out, she started speaking occasionally laying more cards down an intricate design. "You love your family very much. I see a little girl, brown of hair. Very pretty, very close to you. I see that your family split, and your dad is new. A new sister is on the way."

She licked her lips, "You are a leader. An Alpha." She studied the cards, running a slender finger over them, "Even in the mountains instead of the desert, you adapted and made a name for yourself." She pursed her lips slightly and started a new wave of cards over the last ones, each one deliberate in placing. "You will stay at this school a while, and I see romance in your future." A slight smile moved onto her lips, "A challenging romance. I don't know with whom, but there will be chase, there will be struggled, and it will be wonderful for you. You will not be an accountant or sports therapist," she said, wrinkling her nose at the thought without meaning to, "You will be well known and you will be happy. There will be struggle to make it. Problems with the family." She looked at the cards carefully, head tilting. "Protect your sister, the older one. There will be a fight and she will be in the middle. I suggest you find information about this partner of your father, he is an enemy. He will try to destroy you and he will use whatever he can to do so. Your sister is your weak point, he will use her." She scowled, "I will help you in this. Maybe there will be death, but if we do well, not this... Ssss," she hesitated. "Not the sister. I can't find her name..." Vijana turned over a final card and in a confused tone said, "You might want to learn German. And carry a knife on you at all times." She looked up at him, quiet for a long moment. "At least you won't be an accountant."

All of the blood drained right out of Gordo's face and he just sat there staring at Vijana for a minute, then two and then several more with his hands shaking like leaves in a stiff breeze. "You're, you're serious, aren't you? How did you, you." He didn't have the capacity to actually form full sentences right now. It felt like all of his insides had turned into snakes made out of cold and they were just squirming around inside of his stomachs. Crawling a few feet away from where Vijana and the cards were, made a few gagging sounds and then threw up all over the lawn.

Vijana pulled up her cards and pocketed them, standing in a smooth movement she moved to his side. "Shhh," she said touching his back softly. She rubbed it, "Shhhh. Your sister will be fine." She handed him the silk scarf to wipe his mouth with. "I didn't mean to disturb you... the German and pocket knife have nothing to do with your sister. I'm sorry," she said softly. If she was able to, she'd actually hug him and pet his hair.

There were still cold chills shooting through Gordo's limbs and he turned partially to look at the rom girl when she started comforting him. Wiping at his mouth and glad that he hadn't eaten for most of the day he looked up into her eyes for a few seconds. "That's some of the scariest shit I've ever heard in my entire life." His hands were shaking a little bit and he felt faint. "But if you're not fucking with me, I'm going to buy that knife and learn German, just like you said. Are you ever wrong?".

There were still cold chills shooting through Gordo's limbs and he turned partially to look at the rom girl when she started comforting him. Wiping at his mouth with the hankie she gave him and glad that he hadn't eaten for most of the day he looked up into her eyes for a few seconds, thankful for the fact that she had her hands on his back. "That's some of the scariest shit I've ever heard in my entire life." His hands were shaking a little bit and he felt faint as she gave him a hug that started making him feel better. "But if you're not fucking with me, do you know anything else about what I have to do? I can't just wait to see, I've got to start getting ready now then."

Vijana shook her head slowly. "No. I'm never wrong." She hugged him close, petting his hair. She stood on her tiptoes, rubbing his back as well. "What to do?" She thought, "If you have something of your sister's, give it to Nadia Miller. Try to get her to help you. She is a psychic here, and she is capable of doing very amazing things. She leaned back, keeping contact with him. In her times of need she wanted nothing more than to have someone hold her and remind her she wasn't alone. "We can find that man, the heavyset one with no hair, we will find him, and we will find information on him. And when he tries to take your sister through the man that was once your father, we will be ready." She smoothed his hair, "Don't worry, you have the people here that will help you. You will be a hero one day, and you will have your sister alive and well to see it.

The words heavyset and no hair clicked in Gordo's mind right away and he thought of what she'd said about his father's partner being an enemy. Terrence. He'd hated the man already and this was just the icing of the cake. Everything that she said to him was making him feel paranoid and he had a sudden urge to go buy a Rosetta Stone for German and start listening right away. Of course, he didn't have the money for that, but maybe he could ask for it for Christmas. "I'll try not to," he said, "and thanks. Don't know if I'm going to sleep for the next week, but thanks."

"Are you okay? I can ask Nadia to make you forget. I didn't expect to see what I saw." Vijana looked genuinely troubled, "Is there anything I can do to help you now? I promise, I will destroy him before I let him hurt the little girl or use her to hurt you." She looked at him in the eye. "I am sorry to have disturbed you, but I am not sorry to have warned you.

Waving his hand and struggling to get to his feet, Gordo wasn't going to hear any apologies. He still wasn't even sure that anything could happen like she'd said it would, but there really wasn't any true reason that he had to doubt her. After all, she'd known what his sister and Terrence looked like. It didn't make all that much sense to him, but eventually it would. Or it would come to nothing. "It's okay, really," he said, his hands still trembling like they were palsied, "think it all just kind of came on really quickly, you know? I normally don't get like that."

Vijana nodded her expression soft. "I understand. I'll leave you alone now, I am sorry for troubling you. Your sister is very beautiful though, and she loves you very much. It is nice to see family that cares so much." She looked into his eyes touching his cheek, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'll be alright." At this point he was sucking a little bit of wind in, and he didn't even care if she saw it. Having just gotten his powers a few months ago, this was still quite a bombshell to him, and he wondered if maybe he should have just taken a guided tour of the place or something instead. Still, he felt reassured by her words and her touch, and it put him at ease. "I'd rather know it, and if it happens, be prepared than anything else. Guess that's part of the reason I'm here now, you know, to make a difference in things?"

"Yes," Vijana said. "Be strong," she said, still looking in his eyes. "Be strong, and don't worry. Prepare, but don't panic. IF you let this overtake you, he will win." She was quiet a moment then said, "We should talk to McNeil, actually. If we tell him I saw it, he will help you." She started to smile, "He will fix everything."

"I don't know if I can do that just yet, really. I think I'd like to come to grips a little bit with things before I do that, you know? I haven't even met the man except for the interview he had with me." Sitting back down in the grass and scooting away from the girl, he could see why anyone would be attracted to her. Beautiful, sweet, apparently effectively unkillable, and totally in touch with what could happen in the future. "I have to tell you, if everyone at the school has as much going on as you do, I'm going to feel mighty inadequate."

"They don't," Vijana said. "I'm a Psychic Gypsy Werweolf. What can really top that? She stepped back knowing he was likely afraid of her and said, "Well, I'll leave you with your thoughts. I hope you feel better soon. Let me know if you need me.

"Oh, okay." It was the first thing that came to his lips, and honestly Gordo didn't know what to say to make her stay, or even if he should. "Thanks, I guess. I mean, it's been pretty cool talking to you and all. Definitely an interesting first encounter." Standing up and tucking his hands in his pockets, Gordo really didn't know what to do next. Maybe a nap was in order.
