Personality:
Nadia tends to be the average teen, generally cheerful and upbeat, she loves rock music and true-crime books. She is a lot smarter than most kids her age, and is currently a senior at Claremont, as well as a Sophmore level at the local college, she tries to keep from using her powers to gain knowledge. Nadia is more ethical abuot her power uses than most, and tries not to read minds unless she has to, let alone control them. She has a sardonic sense of humor and is very witty at times. Taught from a young age to be ethical, she can't look away from crime and has every faith in the police department.

Talents:
Telepathic Abilities-Nadia is one of the most powerful psions on the planet. She has proven able to contact people in outer space, and her estimated range encompasses at least the distance to the farthest point of the Moon's orbit. Currently she is able to read and communicate to up to 5000 people at one given time, regardless of any lingual barriers they may have. She cannot, however, speak to animals.

Nadia is also able to influence people emotionally, casuing them to calm, despair, fear, hate, hope, or love at her will, or she can control the minds of people within a six hundred foot range of herself. She can also create fully interactive psionic illusions that can temporarily override all of her target's senses. With any of these powers, she's only been able to affect up to fifty subjects at a time thus far.

Nadia has built up a mind shield to prevent foreign influences from affecting her mind that is very strong, requiring an immense amount of skill with mental powers to have a hope of affecting her.

Nadia has proven to be able to 'blast" the minds of people around her with a psionic force that has, in the past, been strong enough to leave a single victim permanently mentally retarded. She can send out a radial mental blast to attack the minds of everyone within a 50 foot radius, at a range of up to six hundred feet.

Psychometry
By handling an object that's been touched by another person, Esper is capable of glimpsing brief images of situations that the object has been involved in in the past, especially if they were emotionally charged (ie a murder weapon, a child's favorite doll, etc). She can also use an item as a psychic 'link' to establish a mental connection or trace with the last person who touched or handled the object.

Telekinesis With the revelation that she is the current reincarnation of the ancient Egyptian hero the Scarab, Nadia has developed minor telekinetic abilities, although nothing on par with her predecessor in the role. She can currently lift up to three hundred pounds and generate a very weak telekinetic force field around herself to help mitigate very minor damage.

Weaknesses:
Weakness Nadia has the normal strength and constitution of a girl her age and size, and she can't take a hit very well. When Nadia's protective barriers fall down she can be overwhelmed by the thoughts around her, and tends to react instinticvly. This has resulted in causing intense agony to the people around her mentally, or even pressing her own thoughts into their mind. If Nadia doesn't lash out with her powers, she is overwhelmed by the thoughts of others and can enter a coma or even become catonic for a while.

History:
Nadia was the thrid out of 5 children born to the Cheif of Police and the Dean of Sciences at the college. She and her family lived well, although she was a strange child from the beginning. Her cries could be heard in the mind of family members, even when they were miles away from the house, and she seemed to pick up every little tension around her. It was through her connections at the college that Nadia's mother, Lillian, spoke to a paranormal psychologist who offered advice on how to raise Nadia, who at the time was still to young to be tested.

When Nadia was 4 years old, however, she showed an uncanny intelligence and comprehension of the world around her, and was tested for her skill, and was almost off her charts in telepathy, and showed an ability with clairavoyance, touching an object gave her insight into the history.

Her parents maintained their love as did her siblings, not treating her in a special way. One day, about 2 months after testing, Nadia became ill at her preschool and was sent to her father's work. A serial killer was on the loose, and her father's office was being used as the center for the investigation. Nadia fell asleep on the couch, the evidence and photos still in the room covered to prevent 5-year-old eyes from seeing. But the girl was feverish and woke up, wanding around the room she couldn't help but be attracted by a locket.

Her father and the men entered the room just as she touched the locket with a tiny hand and went into a trance. She spoke in a more adult tone, reciting a tale of exactly how the murders had occurred. But the link with the locket was not only one that told of the past, it allowed her to connect with the murderer. She revealed to the police where the serial killer was, as well as where key pieces of evidence could be located. Knowing the true nature of his daughter's powers, Chief took her recitations as truth and they investigated, catching the murderer in under a week. Nadia seemed none the worse for the wear, and when asked if the images troubled her, she replied in a sweet tone that they were just like the things her fatherhad in his mind when he came home. A bit stunned at the violence he'd exposed his daughter too, the Chief was, however, relieved that she seemed to be dealing with it well.

Even at such a young age, Nadia had become obsessed with Court Room TV, and when the serial muderer was on, Nadia watched with a ferverent intensity. The killer decided to take the stand, convinced that the somewhat flimsy evidence wouldn't stand up under his charisma. Lillian and Nadia sat on the couch watching, but Lillian became distracted. Her young daughter was sitting staring at the screen with a frightening look of concentration, her lips moving in a nearly silent whisper. Lillian moved closer and could hear the words "Confess, confess, confess, confess," being murmurred in a prayerlike manner. The man on the stand kept holding his head, growing more and more confused on the stand, then suddenly stood, shouting "I'll Confess, I'll confess!" Nadia leaned back a satisfied look on her face as the man began telling all his crimes.

Even though Cheif was well aware of his daughter's helping hand, he wanted to never have her return to the police station and see such things again. Unfortunately, more crimes were being commited. The next case was a cat burgler, who stole valuables and had never been caught or seen. Nadia was finally brought in by her frustrated father. She went to a bank where he had last robbed and touched the very spot his hand had. Nadia promptly began giggling. She found the thief to be quite interesting, and promptly got her first crush on the man who called himself "Downtime." She ended up going to over 20 of his robberies to gather information, even as he began frustrating her father more and more by leaving clues, rounding up cops, putting graffiti on the cars, and more, all in the blink of the eye. At the age of 6, Nadia learned that law came before love, even puppy love, and during one of his robberies she connected with his mind. She slipped out of her room, using her powers to keep her family sleeping, and went to find him. Usiing her telepathy she headed straight for him, and as he left the bank she stood in front of him... a tiny girl in a lacy white nightgown. She told him that he was the most handsome and smart guy she had met, then asked if he could stop his crimes if she let him go. He, of course, promised, but Nadia saw clearly in his mind that he wouldn't, and futher more glimpsed the hatred that he had for Cheif. Nadia held him in place with her mind control and woke her father who rushed over. She got in trouble, but even worse she gained the hatred of Downtime, whom she caught during all 4 of his breakouts from prison.

That should have been the end of Nadia's crime-fighting career, but it was impossible to let this edge go as more and more crimes were commited by villians who could hide behind thier abilities. It became a police secret that during the most difficult cases Nadia was brougth in to help out. When Nadia was 8 she was lucky enough to meet with several members of the Freedom League, helping them with one of their own cases. By the time she was 10, Nadia was spending some of her vacations travelling to other cities and helping the police in those locations. During her Thanksgiving break, Nadia was sent to San Diego to help with a mutant who was using aquatic animals against the NAVY base stationed there. The Pacific Pacifist, as he called himself, watched Nadia working on a dock through the eyes of a dolphin, and the entire pod attacked, knocking her into the water, and dragging her by the jean skirt and tanktop to his underground lair.

There he tied her up, and decided to make her his queen, since she had the power to truly MAKE people antiviolent. Immune to her psionics, since his mind was more animal than human in make-up, Nadia was defenseless against him. But he hadn't counted on her dedication and perseverance. While he left to stop a submarine in its tracks, Nadine managed to wriggle free from her bonds. Running her fingers over the keys of the computer he had been using, she figured out his plan and sent warning to the submarine, and called for help. Keeping track of Pacific Pacifist, she organized the attack on him that lead to his arrest, and was rescued by a submarine that promptly took over the safe haven under the sea for another Naval base.

The very next year, Nadia was in Chicago, trying to help with a serial rapist. But the guy was good, not making physical contact with any items, leaving Nadia seeing only through the eyes of the victims, who were blinded during his violent attacks. While looking over evidence, a detective handed Nadia a soda, and her hand brushed up against his wedding ring. She instantly saw the murders, but through the eyes of the killer. The officer. Seeing the recognition in her eyes, he punched her in the face, knocking the fragile girl out, and taking her from the station. She was younger than his usual victims, but he decided to go through with his crimes on her, not wanting his co-workers to put two and two together. Nadia woke up before anything could happen, and hit him with an intense mindblast. She left him mentally retared, breaking the synapsis in his mind to the degree that his IQ, once in the 150s, down to a level where he was almost dead mentally.

When Nadia was 12, she went to New York City to help solve a series of thefts. She ended up coming face to face with Orion, a villian who reacted with physical combat. He lashed out and Nadia saw it coming, ducking beneath. Between her slight precognition, and by reading his mind to predict his actions, she was able to defend herself. She wasn't his intended target, but she knew what he was there for and kept him occupied. His attacks came quicker, and the average girl was loosing her advantage. Desperately afraid to be hit, Nadia dropped part of her shields, but trying to maintain part of a shield while fighitng perhaps one of the best fighters ont he planet led Nadia to be overtaxed.

Her shields fell compleately and she was exposed to every mind within her range. Nadia lashed out instinctivly, sending out psionic blasts that stunned everyone within 50 feet of her. Orion, however, was not as affected due to his mental stamina. He shot her with a dart that made her even more off guard, not allowing her to lift her shields back up. Nadia let out a scream of pain that was echoed back by 5000 of the closest people, then collapsed onto the ground. At first Orion believed he had killed her, as she lay on the ground with wide eyes that stared at nothing, but he quickly saw her chest rising slowly, almost imperceptivly. He couldn't help but have respect for the girl who had fought so well, and left, calling the cops a short while later.

Nadia was in the hospital for a month before she was able to piece her mind back together with the help of another telepath. At that point she was 13, and recieved an invitation to Claremont Academy, which she readily accepted, having half expected it, and has been attending for a single year.
