Warhammer is alien to me so I'll stay out of this. -------------------- |

You'd need Advanced to play a Warhammer 40k character anyway. And this is not a character, even. It's a unit.

Oh, that simplifies things for me.
Now I KNOW you can't take this character. Not only is it generic, Warhammer wasn't a game first so even if it wasn't, the series didn't originate as a game. -------------------- Alignment: +4 - Heroic Star Warrior

I doubt that for some reason. If I HAVE Kirby and I'm a normal member, it's probably because Kirby was a video game character first.

Hahah what? Kirby was a game first. In fact, the Kirby character wasn't even decided on until right at the last minute - originally, the blobby thing was a placeholder. And no, Necron Lord is not a character. It's a unit type in the wargame. -------------------- Alignment: +4 - PSI Child of a Pure Heart

Regardless, you need Adv. RP to take the Necron Lord (if you can find a specific named one). The VG from other source tends to get waived if no one knows a series originated from another format. Like with Kirby, if idea he came from a comic first can be believed. Nintendo history says no to that idea.

Well, all you really need to do is just specify a Necron Lord hero in the game. That gets rid of the whole "Generic Character" thing. Just like having the Dread Lord from Warcraft. And Warhammer has had several games so that pretty much nullifies the comic argument. Because several games have been anime or comics before actually becoming games. So that should make him acceptable.

the Necron lords have names if you went through everything.
Lucifer-Necron lord based off of the original construction of the Necron and the only one to become the Night Bringer . Hades- based off of the destroyer wields swords rather than staffs Ad-Dajjal-same as "Lucifer" accept became the Deceiver. |

Warhammer 40k, as a board game, is far older then its assosiated spin-off comic series originaly developed to expand the 40k world byond what could be discussed in the rulebooks. The necron themselves acutaly come from mentions in the old Rogue Traider game (refered to by some as 1st edition). They had 3 units (which did not include the lord) during 2nd edition before becomeing a full fledged army in 2002 (including the HQ unit, Necron Lord)
The Necron joined Dawn of War in 2006 as part of the Dark Crusade expansion. The Necron lord in that game is known as The Necron Lord of Kronus. As such, this does not quallify as "The character had to have originated in a legally licensed computer or video game." as the Necron Lord was not created as part of the video game development prosses. Plus, as Durandal said, your work knowledge of the 40k universe is neglagable at best, heredical fanfic at worst. If you'd like me to go threw and point out which parts you got incorrect, I would be glad to. This post has been edited by Sarah Kerrigan on Oct 16 2009, 09:56 AM -------------------- |

Please choose a different character. Or tell me the name of the game, if any, this character originated in. Keep in mind that the rules clearly state that a new character must be non-generic and must have originated in a computer or console game. Ohohoho, and so the flaming begins. First off, if you read the rules, you'd know that characters that are either generic or non-video game characters can't be chosen, Warhammer didn't start out as a video game so you can't choose anyone from there (If you did your research, you'd know that and we wouldn't be talking about this), and even if your character fulfilled the criteria, the form is filled out so terribly that no one would give you stats until you did it right.
And what the freak, Sarah just showed more kindness than we have and explained WHY you can't choose your character and you just spit in her face, as well as everyone else? Why don't you work on your grammar before you start trying to flame us. This isn't a chat room. This isn't some site you always get your way because you want it that way. This. Is. An. RP. Site. Now then, either cool off and try to talk to us without flaming or please leave. ...I wasn't going to say anything before this. -------------------- Alignment: +4 - Heroic Star Warrior

To clarify some things, there ARE some characters in the game Dawn of War that are original to that game and are not present in Warhammer 40k fluff prior to the game. There are actually several, and as Dawn of War has a continuing plot, many have development and story arc, personality building, etc. Most are human (Imperial, Space Marine, etc) characters. Some are not. Their presence in the game is the first instance of their appearance in 40k canon. These characters would be legal to play here.
Necron lord, however, is a generic unit. HOWEVER there is ONE named Necron Lord in the Dawn of War series, the Necron Lord of Kronus that is in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. He is original to this game. This may be what NecronLord is intending, rather than how it was said. Being specific will always help end confusion... This character does come with a caveat though: he is completely silent and speaks through others. He does not, through game play, develop personality and any motives are not shown. Though you may play as Necrons, very little is actually given to them by way of characterizations or development. He would be very difficult to play. He is, however, a legal character. This would be a personal choice of taking the challenge or not. -------------------- Escape will make me a god.
