Pretty, wasn't it, everything around her? She had skirted off from the lakeside after two wolves had so rudely interrupted her privacy and then ran off without either a word. Anae had shrugged it off, nevertheless. She was barely yet a pack member, the only official hunter they had, and so hardly knew anyone.

They probably wouldn't've recognized her even if she went up and said hello.

This field was more peaceful, anyway. It was gentle, breezy, warm but chilled enough so that silken fur coat didn't get too heated. After all, it was winter. Regardless, though, the winter sun shone through the clouds, taking away a bit of the cold on her back.

That was another thing? If what she was in was a pack, where were all the packmembers? Alphas, Betas, Siklas? Healers? Mothers? Pups? Really, the only ones she had seen so far were Ithiral, and that was only for a few moments or so, most of the time being taken up by her trying to fit him through the cavern, only to go right back out again. And then the female by the shore, and the loner male.

Other than that, no sign of anyone. No living creature of her own kin that at least wanted a bit of talk. Maybe even to strike up a new friendship. Whatever.

Anae really wasn't one to talk that much, anyway.

I hope this isn't as crappy as i think its gonna be.
Erm...
-coughcough-
I <3 this table...text only is lurvely^^

Frost crackled against the edges of each blade of grass. The temperature had dropped drastically recently. This has caused all the recent snowmelt to harden against whatever surface it clung to. Beads of ice froze against the long, dark green stems of flowers and the lighter green grass. The various plants in Tikrim had begun to grow, but the chances of survival were rather slim and nearly impossible. A trickle of water flowing downhill had froze into a slim pillar of ice as it crossed over a ledge. Scarce drops of water still fell occasionally, but each drip was quite slow. Soon this column of ice would freeze over completely.

A tiny shadow fell across the ice. It was the plump form of a snowshoe hare, venturing out of its den for the first time that morning. Winter hunger had forced it to exit its small den to search for food in the form of skunk cabbage and other winter greens. It's pelt was a soft cream, making it nearly invisible against the snow. Slowly, the creature crept across the ground. It's target was a small clump of grass less frost-ridden than the rest. A crack sounded as a clumsy movement of its back right paw snapped the thin column of ice that had begun to form. Shards of ice spilled across the ground, rolling downhill rapidly in a random pattern. They glittered brightly as sunlight struck them, suggesting that they would probably melt.

The hare gave a starled jump as the sound struck its ears. For a moment, it remained in one spot, as if too dumb to know what to do. Then, it recalled what had happened and where it was. The creature seemed to string facts together in its mind before giving a lopsided jump and springing off in the opposite direction of its den. It was too small to really pay attention, fear grabbed it so readily. The hare seemed to fly up a hill, too frightened to notice where it was going. It's small fluff of a tail waved about in the air quite ridiculously as it dived down the other side of the hill and raced around in a complete circle, ending up where it ahd begun, near the sparse patch of grass. Quite content, it turned its attention upon the food, seeming to have forgottenits mishaps of only a few moments before.

On top of the hill the hare bypassed on its way back to the food, the Alpha stood, his tan fur brsitling slightly as waves of cold hit him. Sunlight seemed to glint on hidden strands of gold in his pelt, but Teraku didn't really pay attention. The wounds from his fight with Ithiral had begun to heal quite well. He had used the random skills taught by Rhia and Ifara's winter stock of herbs to speed them along in the process. Teraku debated chasing after the Alpha, but hunger did not gnaw at his belly, and the hare would be needed in spring when the creatures began to reproduce. His tail flicked lightly as he crossed majestically down the side of the hill.

He was impressed by the sight of the female that stood nearby. Her was a lovely white, lookign beautiful against the bright sunlight that encased her form, however, Aori would not like that that he was admiring another female. He doubted that any female would like being betrayed by her mate--even if it was only in mind. He pushed his ears forward, detecting the noise of a creature walking beneath him. The Alpha turned around to look for the hare--it had vanished, along with the patch of grass that it had been eating at, Satisfaction glowed in his eyes.

There would be many more hares by the time summer came. His pack could feast quite comfortably without the threat of starvation. He flicked his tail lightly and walked over to the female. His mind scrambled as he searched for a name. Who had Zephyr said that joined the pack? He recalled a female--Aeris, but this female was much lighter colored than the she-wolf Zephyr had spoke of. He debated for a moment before settling on a name. Anae, yes, the new Retnuh. The Alpha thought of the young one that had joined the pack. Rhapsody? He would need a mentor. Perhaps he could ask Anae about the little male if he saw Rhapsody.

He acknowledge the female with a nod of his head. Perhaps this female was as untrustworthy as Ithiral--that was a discomforting thought. He curled his lip, hoping that he didn't appear annoyed at the female. That would be annoying, and then he would have to explain himself and other such annoying nonsense. Better to remain silent for a moment and debate how he would greet her. A simple 'Hello' would suffice, but he felt the need to express his dominance with a more formal greeting. Perhaps 'Greetings' would work. He tried a few others for a moment before turning to the female. The angle of his head was sharp as he looked her over.

"Greetings," he said slightly stiffly, unsure how she would react, "You must be Anae, the new Retnuh. I am Teraku, Alpha of Cayona Telvethar." he declared in a thick vocie, "A pleasing job, isn't it, being a Retnuh? Quite simple in nature?" He bent for a moment, thinking of the cold weather that surrounded them now. "Perhaps not for long, with the temperature being the way it is." he curled his lip lightly in distaste. Teraku disliked cold, unlike Zephyr. It seemed like somethign was always going wrong when it was cold. Starvation was a big issue, and many of the wolves grew restless as mating season drew closer.
