Title: Chasing The Storm
Description: Dun Dun Duuuhhh.

Myles - May 19, 2012 08:35 PM (GMT)
The date was 75MD 18 Traren, it was the day of the first apocalypse.

In a matter of minutes the sky towards each horizon turned into a churning black morass, before long it covered the entirety of Acheron and perhaps beyond; all was blackness. Men felt ill at ease and animals rioted as best suited their nature, everyone knew something was about to happen, something big. Those who remembered Greaves quailed in fear, for these were the same clouds, black, as if expunged by the very furnace of the abyss itself.

I remember how it smelt like iron, the air itself felt heavy as if somehow tainted. The world slowly darkened until the only lights were the torches, reflecting off the eyes of terrified men; at least those that didn't stare into the churning sky. Before long thunderous cracks louder then the strike of a gods forge hammer were heard, each retort loud enough to jar teeth in skulls; it turned the world upside down and threatened to tear it apart, this was nothing to the lightning.

The first strike occurred not long after the onset of the storm, it was a brilliant thing of pure light, I stared in wonder at its beauty. How naive I seemed then, it stood out against the clouds in stark contrast, its retort a thing of unearthly quality, it did not crash and thunder, it sang of unspoken truths, dark secrets, of the end of all things. Before long these strikes were not errant chords of a song but a glittering cacophony, a choir to herald the end of all things. The wind raged and the rain stung but the lightning drummed on, relentless it struck an uncountable number of times, near far it mattered little and there was no order.

The storm whipped itself into a frenzy, reaching a calamitous peak, Acheron burned in the angry glow of the storm. Many nearby animals and men were struck, bathed in the baleful energy of the storm most changed into slavering beasts, monstrosities armed with all manner of gruesome implements of destruction, those that didn't change were the most terrifying. Somehow capable of tapping into the energy of the storm they could manipulate their mutations at will, once a man, women, child the only clue was the bloodlust in their eyes as they ravaged us.

This was not the end, the gods had already forsaken us when the worst calamity struck, at the height of the storm energy such as I had never witnessed even throughout this thrice blasted storm. A massive strike, more a pillar of raw energy then any mere bolt, massive in diameter unimaginable in scope, I realized then that the world itself burned. Four times it struck and four times the world shook under its torment all was reduced to a white glow as we were bathed in the radiance of the storm.

Anonymous, Chasing The Storm.

Excerpt, source unknown.

We traveled to the lands where the mightiest of the bolts struck, we found they had struck in the Shatek, T34 the harbingers castle, T56, a forest in the lands of Grimmr, at the time of writing and T25 in the orc lands, where perhaps the mightiest of bolts struck. The desert was riddled with monsters and we took care to avoid most of them, we found many others who either died of thirst or infighting. The Ushatabian city lay in ruins, much of the sand in the area has been melted to glass, there are survivors, whether or not they remain only time will tell. The forest had become a place of darkness, shadows moved and horrifying beasts stalked in the deep woods. The castle of the slavers weathered the storm, signs of devastation were evident were clear though they'd held against the onslought of storm and beasts. T25 was a blasted pit, stone reduced to gravel. Nothing in the imediate area survived.

Such a calamity..

This is a call to all heroes to join me in this fight against chaos and disorder. If we do not act now, the world as we know it may well be reduced to a world of terror, where man must hide from the atrocities of these monsters in order not to be slain.

So join me now, brothers and sisters. Friends and enemies alike. That we may stand together this day to protect the world from certain destruction.

Who here has the guts and the strength to stand beside me? Who here is truly the leader that he claims to be? Who here is with me today, to investigate the situation and find a cure to these monsters?

Resh sat on the sand dunes, watching the sky war against the earth itself. His hood was back, and the dunes shifted with each mighty boom of the lightning strikes.

This wasn’t going to go well.

Unhurried, Resh stood and started walking back. This made Greaves Isle look paltry by comparison, and by the look of things it was all over. He paused to watch the strikes target the east in a series of staccato explosions that caused the sand beneath his feet to shift, and shook his head. That didn’t sound too good.

He didn’t know what he could do about it, but he knew he had to do something. He slid down the dune and took off at a leisurely pace towards the sandy city a short ways away.

((To be clear, Resh is IN on the Quest. :P))

Ser Elmy Looks at his castle walls. The storm had been weathered but only just. Alot of repairs wre going to be needed but thats life.

Ser Elmy walks awaytowards the docks. He had better things to do than go storm chasing.

The Empire still needs to grow!

Ashvald looks over the new castle walls amongst his zombies to watch the storm. "Looks bloody nasty, but doesn't really concern me. A bit charming I must say though."

Vikernes Vipatheia shall join the quest... the last debacle involving monsters only fueling his desire to see the monstrous scourge ended. Besides, if the land were destroyed, then his allies in Talendor would suffer as well

It's great to see that at least some of you have the guts to stand up for your people.

As for the rest of you.. May your egoistical behaviour spell your end before all this is over.
