Well, ladies and gents, we have a project we're united under, but we still haven't decided who's doing what.

Now, I would like MelMak to be in charge of most music in the game, but I would like to compose some of the music, also. We need some people to help with the scripting(NPC's can be awfully funny, you know biggrin.gif ). Then, we need programmers.

Art is going to be a big thing in this. We'll need volunteers for that, too.

Alright, put your life on the line, people! We got jobs to apply for!

Wow, thanks for volunteering me for the music. ^_~ (Don't worry, I don't mind and I figured I'd be doing that anyway. laugh.gif )

Is everyone okay, then, with doing a Paladin game? If so, later tonight when I'm off work and the computer's free I'll propose the idea to Ann and invite her to join the team as our creative consultant (and whatever else she wants to do), assuming we get her permission. happy.gif

I'd like to be involved in this somehow, but I'm not really sure how I could help much. I think I could maybe draw up and scan some artwork, probably just for a few key moments in the game (like the end). I feel I must point out though, that I've forgotten where I put my colored pencils, since I haven't used them in such a long time. Also, I wouldn't mind recording my voice to lend it to a character somewhere along the way, although again, I think voice work should be used infrequently.

I would like to do programming, but I know too little about it to do a good job. I mean, my programming class ended about a year and a half ago, so I've forgotten about all of that. And I'm not yet sure what programming language we'd be using. However, if someone were to teach me, I think I could learn quickly.

Well, 'Fendo, programming shouldn't be TOO much of a problem if we use a pre-existing RPG engine, such as RPG Maker.

Voice talents might be good for cinematics and such, so let's keep that in mind.

I guess I can do the scripting. I'll have to reread Paladin though to get the plot.

I'd like to help you with the scripting, Loch. I have a knack for writing stuff out.

Ack! More new stuff! Go away for more than two weeks and... *gets over himself* Okay.... can I help? I am computer retarded, although I would gladly help if someone would teach me how, but i can draw... in black and white... I did draw for a video game project my friends and i started a long itme ago, but nowadays, most of us are so busy that project is kind of collecting dust... My writing skills are nothing in the light of some of the good writers around here and in caa. I could lend my voice if i knew how... Anyways... is there a way i can hop onto this wagon?

Well, while we're still in the process of deciding which engine we're going to be using, maybe I'll post some job ideas and you guys can take whichever you like. Here's (at least some of) what we need:

- Music composers (I'll probably be doing most of this, and Zilch will be doing some, but if anyone else wants to help here then go for it! happy.gif )

- Tile artists (No volunteers here yet.)

- Sprite artists (So far only Ann has volunteered for this; but more would be appreciated! happy.gif )

- Background artists (Ann's offered to help here too; but we could always use more. happy.gif )

- Map designers (No one's offered here yet.)

- Monster designers (No volunteers yet.)

- Script writers (It looks like Zilch and Loch are taking care of that, but more help is always nice. happy.gif )

- Script programmer/compiler (If we use the OHRRPGCE, it uses a special scripting language called HamsterSpeak; if no one else volunteers, I'll take care of this one and compile it all together on my end.)

If I've missed anything or if anyone needs more clarification on what each of these jobs involves, just ask and I'll do my best to help you out! happy.gif

Well, like I said above, I suppoose I could do some art (In fact, I bought more drawing tools just for this.) I don't want to have to animate anything, so I guess sprites are out of the question, but tiles and/or backgrounds would be alright with me. Or, if Wiggins agrees, he could draw artwork, and then e-mail it to me for coloring.

Also, what is involved in designing maps or monsters?

A map designer would be the one creating the areas ("maps") that the player moves around in -- like the overworld, dungeons, etc. This could be subclassified into two different types: First, there's someone to sketch out the basic maps (and I'm hoping Ann would do that since she knows the world of Paladin better than any of us do). Second, someone has to translate them into "tiled format" -- that is, something that the game engine can use. (That's why we need tile artists.)

A monster designer basically designs the monsters/enemies in the battle portions of the game: their appearance, attributes, attack patterns, etc.

I hope that answers your question, and I'm glad you're showing interest in this! happy.gif

The tile artist's job is to decide what the tiles will look like; for example, there will be grass tiles, desert tiles, water tiles, floor tiles, wall tiles, etc. Tiles are the building blocks of an RPG map; individually they don't look like much, but put together in a grid they can form large worlds or small rooms. ^_~

In the OHRRPGCE the tile size is 20*20, if I'm not mistaken; though the standard size varies from one engine to the next.

Hmmm... ok. Erm... what kind of game is it? Has it been decided?

It looks like we're pretty much leaning towards doing an RPG. (By the way, did I already mention that we have Psycho Ann's permission to make a game of Paladin? She said that she designed the comic to be like an RPG, so I guess that's what we're going with. happy.gif )
