To be totally pedantic about Fearns last year, he started on the bench for both the Southend games and whilst he did fashion a couple of things in the away match, I don't recall him being any great shakes in either encounter.

I agree however, that with the FA Cup distraction now out of the way and the current calibre of the squad we have, there's no reason why we can't push on really strongly form hereon in. Call me old-fashioned, but an early exit from the trophy would be no bad thing either!

Is my memory playing tricks or were we not 1 nil down at home, Fearns came on, because of his reputation he attracted 2 markers who he dragged of all over the place, creating huge holes in the Southend defence, and Jonny Adams took maximum advantage, and we so nearly won against a team who were much much better than Lincoln.
Please do not think that I am defending Fearns, who I think got everything he deserved from Rob and Lee, nevertheless at the expense of appearing hyper critical after yesterday the only thing Lincoln had extra was better quality in the final 3rd. This subject was widely debated on the Mark Bellingham thread a few weeks ago, and I think it was clear again yesterday this type of player is now the only thing we are lacking. Look at the teams above us and look at the league list of leading scorers. As good as youngsters like Brown and Thompson are ideally they would be complemented by a more experienced head with a reputation to trouble the opposition.

I don't have a problem with your assessment, or Fearns, I just wish he had delivered for us. I just don't recall him being that influential over the Southend games to be honest.

The player I think we are missing is last season's DCB, if we had him in the current side, we wouldn't be far away if we keep reasonably injury / suspension free.

Unfortunately DCB has a past history of going off like a firecracker when he first joins a new club, and turning into a damp squib after a few months. My suspicion is that he is now in squib mode and we may never see the player that we all adored last season again in a Telford shirt, and he will shortly be off looking for another bonfire display to light up!

I was surprised that despite a lot of activity in your end and ours the singing only carried when your main stand joined in. Thanks for a great day and hope to see you at Sincil Bank in the league in the next few years. Your ground, fans and sprited performance do you credit.

Two days later and I still cannot believe that this game was lost.

Lincoln City were there for the taking and I could only see one winner once Blakeman equalised. It wasn't to be though. The superior finishing of the League club made the difference.

My man of the match was Jon Adams. Big games seem to bring the best out of him.

If this form can be translated into the league then the playoffs should be within easy reach.

The way we played we should have won. Although sad we lost I am not disappointed as the I was very impressed with our performance and thought the whole team gave 100%

As has been said before, lets hope they bring this form to league, because if they do then we will surely be climbing up the table.

not been able to get to the Bucks Head for a while now, although I have managed to follow the team via the radio and on here, so was looking forward to Saturday and seeing how we had improved since my last visit.

Before the game I was optomistic about winning, but that was not to be. I said to my travelling companion on the way to the ground that our downfall would be the chances to goals ratio compared to full time league players.

That said, the game could so easily have been ours. Great improvement since our last visit, and as for Blakey, couldn't be more pleased for the lad after all the stick he has had both from fans in the ground, some of whom seem to blame him for everything, and on here, had my m.o.m between him and Killock.

Couple of other points to end this waffle.

Was it my failing eyesight, or did Lincolns sub, announced as no.13, have 13 on his shorts and 12 on his shirt?
( full time professional club if this was the case!!)

The new seats in the home dugout, again could be due to poor eyesight, but the lads sitting there seemed to have their feet off the ground giving the appearance of small boys on high chirs

Correct. That was Ian Pearce who's their asst manager. He was a Premier League player for Blackburn and West Ham and was tipped for big things until injuries robbed him of his peak years.

My first opportunity to post after the match. The score was a travesty but the result probably a blessing in disguise. Credit to Lincoln for scoring three goals from the limited opportunities they had but we out-played and out-fought them and our dominance deserved a more respectable scoreline. Having now seen the draw for the next round i.e. away to Northwich, who cares, but I just wish the score against the Imps had done our performance justice. Their second goal was so reminiscent of Southend's added time equaliser it was scary. Not that I have anything against Lincoln but I think Northwich will beat them in the next round.
Every Bucks player gave their all and once again made me feel immensely proud of the whole AFC Telford Utd effort, the players, the officials, the fans, the lot.
Now lets put that same collective effort into getting out of this league starting with Vauxhall Motors this Saturday.

As a final thought and based on what we saw, doesn't it make you wonder how Lincoln City would get on in our league and hence their petrification at getting relegated. It is that degree of adversity which becomes a true test of a football club, their joy at winning through to the second round of a cup they are never going to win against a team two divisions below them is sad but illuminating. If they do lose at Northwich and as it is televised to the nation then the humiliation might prove too much. Nonetheless I wish them well, they are a decent honest bunch, which these days is all you can hope for.
