New cows have arrived in Briermoss! Join the naming contest to win skill points, not to mention have your creative name become the official name for the cow breed~
seasonal & moonly
Currently, we are in the season of SUMMER and the month of THUNDER MOON. Today is the 6th. As true to it's name, the moon of Thunder is quite rainy and stormy. In fact, we'll only have a few actual clear days. However, the weather is going to be hot, and with all this rain, there's going to be alot of humidity in the air. Make sure you and your animals keep cool. We don't want to see anyone wind up at the clinic or Maidenwold with heatstroke.
festivals
The 3rd is Midsummer.
On the 7th is the Swimming Festival at the lake in the mountains.
On the 16th is the Winter-in-Summer Festival at the lake in the mountains.
The 20th is the Crop Festival at Bandia Square.

Bandia Square Reached by climbing a wide, winding staircase made of bricks and that's flanked by camellias, it's the center of activity during the weekend market and many public festivals. It's named so for the rectangular fountain in the center depicting Ladrinne holding an urn that's spilling out into the fountain.

Moondrop Avenue Moondrop Avenue is the main road leading into, and out of, Briermoss. Paved with a mixture of cobblestone and brick throughout the village (and dirt, of course, through the countryside), it is a lively street, lined with flowers, trees, and quaint houses of varying make. The sound of mirthful laughter from people of all ages echoes through the air as children scamper about, women exchange gossip, men talk across fences, and old folk discuss their yesteryears.

Wilwarin Lane Wilwarin Lane is a smaller road than Moondrop Avenue, though quite peaceful with its abundance of lavender and chamomile. The calmer townsfolk meander along the dirt road, pausing to admire gardens or look through the windows of cozy cafés or other small shops that set up here. Wilwarin Lane is perfect for those who wish to remain close to the village center but enjoy the quiet aura of tranquility of the meadows and forests.

Heledir Bay A bustling center of activity, ships continuously make port and leave during most of the year, especially in the summer. Rowdy children and dogs run through the crowds while mothers both simultaneously worry for them and purchase goods from local fishmongers.

Aduial Library A humble, two story brick building sits just outside of the main hustle and bustle of Briermoss Village. Tall, leafy trees provide shade over benches for readers who like to sit outside while enjoying a good book, while inside there are plenty of plush couches and chairs for people who like to sit in the quiet atmosphere of the library itself.

Village Outskirts Quieter than the inner village, the outskirts offer a country scene for those who want to live close to conveniences. There are a few shops scattered along the dirt roads, mainly those shops that would do better in wide spaces (such as Anorloth Greenhouse), as well as the magic school, which has been set up on the other side of the river.

Laurina Meadows Stretching from the rocky cliffs of the eastern bay to the foothills of the mountains, the meadows are mostly occupied by ranches. The lower meadows are covered in tall green grasses, while the upper meadows rather resemble moorland. Dense tree copses extend into the meadows from Ithil Forest, fed by the various streams that flow from the Thoron River.

Drauge Mountains While the Drauge Mountains are rather low in comparison to other mountain ranges, they stand proud and beautiful in their ancient age. A vast mountain range, only part of the mountains are located in Briermoss. The south-west cliffs are riddled with caves that offer the perfect chance to seek adventure (and possibly treasure). Many races, both magical and non, call the mountains their home.

Ithil Forest A large, mysterious forest blanketing much of the mountains, Ithil Forest is a place of extremes. Some parts are calm, filled with meandering streams and are drenched in butter colored sunlight during the day and a peaceful silver moonlight during the night, while others are eerie, containing a constant swirling mist and odd noises and calls from arcane creatures.

Anor Forest Anor Forest is a calm forest, unlike it's unruly sister, though she is much larger in size, sweeping across northern Briermoss from the banks of the Tuilinn River and nearly up to the foothills of the mountains. Creeks, streams and brooks branch off the river, winding through the forest like the many well-worn paths beaten by much of the townsfolk. Edible plants, berries and mushrooms grown in abundance and the smaller, more docile animals call this forest home.

Lómë Coast The southernmost feature of Briermoss, the Coast has gorgeous white sands that seem to take on a pink tinge at sunrise and sunset. Away from the bay inlet, the water is a beautiful aquamarine, and one can see the bottom for a couple hundred feet out. Not so far off in the distance one can see islands scattered across the horizon.

Iâ Mires A dark and foreboding place, the Iâ Mires are located near the very edge of the map, extending into an unknown length, as anyone who tried to find the end never came back. A dark blanket of fog covers most of the bog, both night and day, hot and cold. Weather seems to have no effect, as the trees and other flora remain in a constant state of decay. Or at least, that's how they appear. The sunlight that manages to pierce through the canopy of cypress trees and tree-moss is an unearthly green color. Macabre creatures, like will-o'-the-wisps and wraiths, lurk here, waiting to snatch unsuspecting victims who wander in too far.
