QUOTE (exx @ Dec 6 2009, 04:11 PM)
We don't want expert wrestlers crushing new players just for the joy of holding on to the East Cincinnati Wrestling Group title.

Of course, they wouldn't mean you, Exx--you'd be too busy trying to hold on to the East Cleveland title, right? ;)

(I'm joking--you've never struck me as the kind of guy who would newbie-bash...but when I saw the city they picked was in the same state as you, I couldn't resist making the joke. :D )

I don't even challenge for the Cleveland title anymore. Once in a while someone forgets to defend it and it drops to me since I'm ranked number one in the network and I defend it for a couple days till someone beats me. But it not something I consider any kind of accomplishment. When I first won it way back when it was a big deal to me, but after winning it 20x I figured it was time to step aside. I wish I could have removed myself from the rankings there.

I really like the new setup. Sounds good for people of all skill levels. I think one of the problems with the current game is newer players getting picked on by the top wrestlers and then getting frustrated and leaving the game.

And I can't wait to run my own division.

I might just stay in the current/old app. if and until they close it down. Then, by the time I have to switch to the new one, hopefully any bugs or errors or loopholes will have been found and closed/fixed by that point/.

And here's an update on tag teams in the new game:

From the major change in divisions, we'll talk about Tag Teams, which will have relatively minimal changes. For the most part, tag teams will operate similarly to the first Wrestler game, though there are changes that mirror some of the other parts of the game.

Tag teams, like individual wrestlers, will have to work their way through the circuit. When you create a new tag team, you'll be starting from scratch, and have to enter a local wrestling company to gain experience, then work your way up to the top divisions. It's a little unusual... as a singles wrestler, you might be in the top championship division, then create a tag team where you'll start at the bottom... but as we reviewed all the options, this seemed like another way to allow people to focus on one area of the game and not face overwhelming odds.

Rankings will work the same as singles, where points are assigned only for matches in the division and related to the quality of the opponent. Wrestlers will now be able to interfere in tag matches.

We'll have a separate topic about matches, but while we're discussing tag teams, it's worth mentioning that the match engine has been completely reworked, and now can treat different match types in the same way. The upshot of this is that we'll be able to do things like have tag team tournaments, stable challenges with tag matches, etc. More details on matches will be posted soon...
