[Lucius Malfoy]

Lucius stood very still and very silent in the seventh floor corridor, a rare occasion indeed. A large wooden door stood equally as immobile before him as though in challenge. He crossed his arms over his chest in frustration, eying the handle as though it would bite him like his grandmother's disgusting old terrier. Blasted thing had to have been rabid, but that was beside the point.

He'd been standing there before the large door, which he'd never seen before in all his years at Hogwarts, for nearly an hour now. Periodically, he'd reached out, pushed the door open, stared blankly into the void other the other side, then closed it once again to return to his stance a few feet away. There simply was no room on the other side of this bloody door.

"I don't understand." He stated in irritation, tapping his foot against the stone work of the castle floors. "Why would there be a door if there's not a bleeding room for it to lead to?" He asked the empty corridor, as though he truly expected an answer. After a few moments of silence, he stepped forward again, hand outstretched.

Open.

Void.

Close.

Lucius sighed.

Katya closed the door to Professor Flitwick's office. The lock clicked shut, and Katya made her way towards the stairway. She was tired, really, and had more homework to do, and after that rounds with her prefect counterpart that she wasn't really looking forward to. In a perfect world, after rounds she would be able to rest, but that wasn't so--she'd be burying herself in a potions book for hours afterwards, until she made some sort of headway on her own...personal research.

All in all, Katya was not in any pleasant sort of mood. Slytherin had shared classes with Gryffindor all day long today, and her patience had grown thin. Stupid questions, incompetent people, and unnecessary, ignorant comments. After class she'd seen Potter and his idiots goofing off in the hallway and given them detention merely on principle.

According to Professor Flitwick Mark wasn't doing well, either. There wasn't much she could do for him, except be available for help should he need it, but that wasn't satisfactory. She couldn't think of any real help she could be, and that soured her mood even further. She wanted to eat, and to sit down with her books and avoid any more people today. They caused so many...problems.

As she walked towards the stairs, she heard the repeated hitching and unhitching of a door latch, followed by a familiar voice.

"I don't understand."

Katya narrowed her eyes.

"You," she muttered under her breath.

"What in the name of Merlin's beard are you doing, Lucius?"

"What in the name of Merlin's beard are you doing, Lucius?"

Lucius looked up at the new arrival. It was that strange Russian girl. Lucius crossed his arms again and stepped away from the infuriating door. "I've stumbled across this-" He vaguely motioned in the direction of the wall. "Whatever it is. There's nothing on the other side though." He scoffed, straightened his tie, and looked Katya straight in the face.

"It's a stupid thing, to have a door leading to nowhere. I'll be telling my father of this foolishness." He cocked his head back, chin climbing an inch or so higher. "I'm sure he'll have the Headmaster take care of it immediately, don't you agree?" There was a hairsbreadth of a pause before he continued. "Of course you do."

He turned to study the door, scratching lightly just behind his left ear. "Well whatever, it's a waste of time I suppose." Lucius turned back to Katya. "You know, my father sent me the most amazing polish kit for my wand the other day. Perhaps you should look into something of the sort? I noticed yours was looking a little... Well, shabby, really, in class the other day. It's quite shameful. See this," He swiftly extracted his wand from it's newly polished casing, silver handle glinting in the flickering light. "It's quite nice, isn't it? I think so." He lifted it to look it over briefly in the dim hall before sliding it back into place. "We have rounds this evening, do we not? Of course we do. Do try not to be late this time, will you?"
