WHA-HEY! Pey'j here, and I've got a new spring in my step. Why? Because after a long hiatus, the website project is back on! Pey'j

While a few sources have claimed that Ubi has put BG&E 2 on the shelf for now, directing resources to other projects, a Ubisoft editor speaking to a French website stated that BG&E 2 is still on course and always has been. Can the conspiracy be exposed, the truth captured? Check out the latest posts here. BG&E Voyager

The website project is still on brief hold for a few weeks as I finish up my exams (to be a certified computer tech! oh joy). In the meantime, I will hopefully be purchasing Adobe Web Standard (Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver) and learning the ropes for those. I've made a promise to myself that this website will get made, and so I will take on the brunt of the work. But of course, you all can help if you wish.

I also have the most brilliant project idea in the world, but I'll write up the details for that later. It'll take too long to write up now. Suffice it to say, we will launch this website with a BANG.

Viva La Revolucion!

Dreamweaver is an excellent program.

if you need to learn how to use it Linda.com has excellent videos on Dreamweaver, thanks to it I went from knowing absolutely nothing to being able to make a website with Dreamweaver. :welldone:

What’s fireworks, itsn't it just an image editing program?

I for one am not a big fan of dreamweaver or any of the like, since it limits your freedom when it comes to building websites.

Also, all sites seem to resemble each other.

If I'd pick up real programming again, I'd go for PHP in combination with the standard HTML.

But, I'm glad to hear of you Pey'j! I was kinda wondering where you went and what happened to the whole website thing.

It's a vector and raster image editor. It was originally made by the same company that made Flash and Dreamweaver and was incorporated into the CS programs when Adobe acquired that company.

It's kind of like a mixture of Illustrator and Photoshop geared specifically to web development.

An understanding of proper markup and CSS can often lead to leaner, faster loading sites. Sure, any tool can be abused or used well. This goes for both handcoding and wysiwyg, but I tend to gravitate toward handcoding for design. I just see better results in terms of style and access.

It's worth taking the time to learn html, css and a scripting language of choice.

Yes well...time I have not. Now ideally (for me) I would use Fireworks and Dreamweaver to do some site mock-ups while the more web-coding-savvy folks here would build the actual site. I actually am a programmer, I just don't get web-coding. Can't wrap my brain around it.

But on the other hand, depending on how much time other people have or are willing to invest, I want to be ready to build the entire site myself if I have to. Hopefully I DON'T have to (*wink wink nudge nudge*), but I'm just saying. If I did the whole thing myself, it would be with Dreamweaver. That's about my limit. :P

But again...I'm a few weeks out before I can dive back into this again. And then I'm DIVING! And you all had better come with me! :arr:

I can help with images if you need that. I'm getting pretty good at optimizing images. For example, this is a jpg saved at 0% quality and has no artifacting.

Yup, that's the idea. It's for YouTube so that's why it's black and white since they add a color reduction algorithm that would've screw up the whole thing up if it were in color, but it is possible to do the same thing in color and get the same high quality.
