Forum Etiquette

These forums are a shared medium for expressing our thoughts and opinions, asking questions, and sharing discussions, all about the Zoo Tycoon and Artifex franchises. So we all need to behave in a manner that doesn’t insult, inflame, or otherwise harass other users. Please read the Terms of Service and Terms of Use: these two documents state explicitly what’s permitted here, and what’s not. You all agreed to abide by these policies when you created your user accounts, so it’s a good idea to be familiar with them.

Here’s a brief outline what’s expected from all users in terms of general behavior in this forum.

Stay on Topic

There’s an appropriate place in these forums for just about every topic you might want to discuss concerning Zoo Tycoon or Artifex. Please post your topics in the right forums.

Be Tolerant

We’re all here to talk about Zoo Tycoon and Artifex, so making personal attacks (sometimes called “flames”) is not an appropriate way to communicate. You’ll eventually read something here that you don’t agree with, and if you have a different opinion then please feel free to share it. But don’t attack or harass other forum members simply because you don’t agree with them. Keep your comments polite and meaningful.

The same goes for slurs against gender, race, religion, nationality or sexual orientation: it’s not permitted. Such postings will be deleted and you’ll be warned to cease the offensive behavior. Repeated offenses can result in user suspensions and bans.

Be Courteous

Profanity and expletives (swear words) aren’t acceptable, whether they are spelled out, abbreviated, or padded with characters. Deliberately misspelling expletives to avoid the censors isn’t cool. If and when the moderators find the material, they will delete it, and you’ll be warned to cease the offensive behavior. Repeated offenses can result in user suspensions and bans. There’s nothing you need to say in the forums that can’t be communicated without swearing.

Write Normally

We don’t walk up to somebody on the street and just start yelling at them. In the forums, using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS is the equivalent of yelling. Please don’t yell.

Duplicate Postings

Post just once in the appropriate forum. Posting the same thing in more than one area is sometimes called “spamming,” and it’s not acceptable. Duplicated posts will be deleted.

Use Appropriate Signatures

Please make sure that your signature reflects and supports all the etiquette rules expressed in this post. Using an offensive signature is a quick way to get your account banned from the forum.

Consequences

Please take warnings about your posting behavior seriously. If you have to be warned repeatedly, your user account may be suspended, or banned permanently.
