Hey my name is adam, I am 15 years old, I live in mesa arizona and I feel freerunning is becoming a growing passion in my life. I have been incorperating parkour into my life for about a year now and recently started a bit of tricking.
This past october month I have felt an urge to fast the unimportant things in my life such as video games and TV and soda to go into a month of (in my words) hardcore training. So far with the advice of another, made a list of my abilities and I plan on getting as close to perfecting my way and style of movement as I can.
As of now I am training alone at my park with just a few picknik benches and trees. I don't really mind the fact that it is bare but I would like a bit more variety and or a buddy to trace with. I have checked out the hotspots posted on the forums in mesa but there is one problem, I can't drive. I also live on sossaman and baseline so I am not very close to the center of mesa, more like the edge.
If anyone has any more advice for me and my training then please post on what you think I could do to better improve my training.

Thank you
-Adam Fellman

Adam,

you are in luck.

the light rail ends at superstition springs park and ride center. its about a mile north west from your place. go to http://www.valleymetro.org/images/uploads/.../0727_local.pdf

and you well get a map.

if you don't mind walking or freely running ha ha to there or have a bike then you have access to the center of maricopa county and you can take a bus from any one of the stops to get any where you like.

it may take some time traveling but atleast now you have that option.

Francesco

Not recently have I added anything to this but I have reached the half way marker. After so much training that I am not normaly used to, my joints have been aching and muscles sore, but I feel so far I have made considerable progress. The first week I worked on alot of tricking and vaulting plus a few balance excersizes here and there. The second week I have unknowingly been working on a more parkour based training sessions. Cat ballance and percision walking were a big thing this week. I also did a lot of bar work on the jungle gym. I started out small with my percision jumps trying to get the technique to my pleasing before I went on to the more lengthy jump. Then I would do that until I didn't do it correctly and went on to train the technique again till I got it to stick.
I met someone that I think may be interested in training with me but you never know until you meet them wearing basketball shorts and a T ready to have a ball. He seemed interested in it and willing to try everything. I think this will be good for me to be able to help another train because it will give me a better understanding of myself and how I specificly train a movement.
A terrible thing happend also this week. The track around the park was paved with large rock on the outsides. I had a few crane jumps wall runs and tick tack to cat leaps there. I also went out and rode my bike for about 2 and a half hours to see if I could find any near by areas I got train at. I was unsuccessful in my attempt.
This month thing I am pretty sure could become more then just a challenge for me but almost a lifestyle. I love being able to go to bed earlier then ever and wake up ready to take on the day ahead. Also the pure joy of movement after school or sometimes even just relaxing in a bed of grass staring up at the blue sky. I could easily see this becoming a lifestyle. And im sure it will be much easier once I get a car. laugh.gif

I have trained the past 2 days sort of with a few other people. They are all fairly new but are catching on quick. Having to show people how to do say a roll from my own point of view is much harder then going through the steps and showing it to them as if I was a beginer. I guess you could say I am not a very good teacher but I break down as good as I can. I am now watching some tutorials so I can maybe learn how to explain things a bit better. Other then that I have been with a alot more enthusiasm when there are more people there doing what I am doing. I always felt like I was the only one who had trouble with a certain movement or step to complete a movement. Now I realize that some people have more natural ability in some areas then other people have in thoughs areas and that we all learn if not differently at our own pace and in our own way. So now I know that the only way to get better is to keep trying and realize that this is my beginning and that with enough practice I will get better. I have been looking about this all wrong I have been look at getting to the end product not the progressions to get to that point. Like a wall run, if you focus on the top of the wall to much and not on you footing and power being exerted then you will almost surely not make a challenging wall run. Now I know it is okay to have a beginning and that it takes time and hard work to get somewhere it doesent just happen over night. Many people may be like "Duh" but for me this was not a very obvious problem I had to experience it from the outside looking in to see it. I am from now on going to focus on my progressions and goals not on the reason I can't look like the people on youtube. Can't wait for the sunday jam going to be a blast. Always is! smile.gif
