Okay so I just enrolled in an AP U.S. History course for the year and already I've been doing terrible on the quizzes. I've tried taking notes while I read, outlining, highlighting, and so forth. I've tried taking notes after I read so I can pay attention to what I read and absorb it fully. But nothing seems to work!

When it comes time for the quiz, I remember reading what I'm being asked about, but I do not remember what the exact answer is! The answers for the quizzes are usually the minute details from the section and also key characters, places, and events. I've consistently failed every quiz for the past two weeks and I need some tips.

I am using The American Pageant - Twelfth Edition. If anyone knows where I can get some flash cards and quizzes (that I can actually print out in a user-friendly format, rather than the ones linked here by default that I can't even see the question/answer to), that would be much appreciated (along with any tips you can offer me).
