Packers | Talks to Re-sign Franks Are at Standstill

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers have offered TE Bubba Franks a long-term contract worth nearly $2.5 million per year. Franks is seeking a deal closer to $4 million. Further complicating the process is the fact that both Franks' agent, Gene Mato, and the team have not talked in about two weeks. "Unfortunately, there has been no dialogue between myself and the Packers since the start of camp," said Mato. Franks and Mato are both currently in Miami, but Mato indicated he would be open to face-to-face talks with team contract negotiator Andrew Brandt. "It's not something I would rule out," Mato said. "I would be open to it if that's what the Packers felt it would take to move things in the right direction."

Packers | Favre Wants Team to Re-sign Franks

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre has said he has no issues with TE Bubba Franks for being absent from the team's training camp. In fact, Favre wants the team to re-sign Franks soon. "I know I was vocal about Javon's deal but Bubba's case is a little bit different," said Favre, who was unhappy with WR Javon Walker's holdout threats during the offseason. "I hope we get him back soon. We need him. No doubt about it. I think the Packers know that, too."
