Character Tutorial: Part 4

Well, were here. Part 4 of my character tutorial and its all about shading now. This was all done in PSP, so you can see how easy it is. Well here it goes.

1. Create a new layer above your colours but below your lines.

2. Choose a point of light. I chose from the left.

3.Grab the trusty lasso and pick the colour your adding shade to. Then darken it by how much you want it darkened. Like say i have grey #959595 as my base colour on my shirt, and i want the shadows darker, i would choose #525252. Anyways, it all depends on how sharp you want the shadows. The darker, the sharper.

4. So begin shading all your clothes and skin.

5.Once finished, you must add some highlights to show light hitting your clothes and face directly. This is a rather easy. Just do exactly the same as point 3 and 4 but the oppisite direction and this time with a lighter colour.

6.Done. Easy as that really!

Anyway, its very good akuma, great job. now onto doing our little challenge eh? Ive got the image ready. And Ill be starting a new thread for it in the lounge.
