furbys are cool - April 6, 2012 07:25 AM (GMT)
Furby is coming back this fall this is real check
It out
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/po...-coming-back-/1 I don't think it's fake because. It's on a USA today site!
MintyDreams - April 6, 2012 09:45 AM (GMT)
Hm, interesting.
I immediately looked at the post date of that blog, and it wasn't posted on April 1st, so that's good. XD
I googled all over, but couldn't find any other site reporting this news. Is there any other information out there?
I find that (mockup? prototype?) image to be interesting, as it resembles the original Furby, and doesn't look anything like the Emototronics.
rimmu - April 6, 2012 10:07 AM (GMT)
Oh my, I´m so excited
I yelled my husband to come look at those news and I´m acting like a little child  It would be so awesome if those news were for real!
Sonic8100 - April 6, 2012 10:50 AM (GMT)
I think furby 2.0 looks a bit,too modern. They dont have that cute look to them anymore. I like the blue fur though. But wheres the tail and mane? And plastic ears is a bit strange. Are these coming to canada? :tux:
Sonic8100 - April 6, 2012 11:02 AM (GMT)
Sorry for the double post but try not to spread the news too big! This way we will all have a little bit of a better chance at getting furby 2.0. I read up and it says they come out for full release in august. i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!! :tux:
zambonizach - April 6, 2012 01:47 PM (GMT)
Everything on USA Today is true, and that model is modern, so it's real. :kid:
Sonic8100 - April 6, 2012 02:05 PM (GMT)
I CANNOT FREAKIN WAIT!!!!!!! OMG! I REALLY WANT TO GET MY HANDS ON ONE OF THOSE FURRY LITTLE FRIENDS! I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :tux:
pigandcats - April 6, 2012 02:18 PM (GMT)
It's pretty cute, the thing I don't like about it is it's eyes. But the rest is great! I might pick up A few, but 1998 furbs will always be my favorites. Someone please tell tiger and hasbro to make the 2012 Furbies able to communicate with the 1998s!
:red:
furbyking12 - April 6, 2012 02:43 PM (GMT)

Sonic8100 - April 6, 2012 02:45 PM (GMT)
They probably can talk with 2005 furbs and 98 furbs. It has the red light sensor in the head. I think the eyes look pretty cute with the bubbly look. But I will always love the 98 furbies. They started it all. No furby will EVER compare to a 1998's love and happiness. If i had a glass with stuff in it I would do a toast to the 1998 furbies! And do you realise that it took seven years for hasbro to make the 05 furbs and this year is the seventh year since the 2005 furby has been released and now another furby is coming out. Pretty interesting...I wonder if hasbro will keep releasing a new furby every seven years. I will figure that out in seven or eight years. DUN DUN DUN! LOL :tux:

What I meant by the eyes it that there a screen. Not actual fake eyes.
:red:
Sonic8100 - April 6, 2012 03:13 PM (GMT)
I thought they were screens too but there not. If you look really close you can just see the ends of the eyeballs. There are probably just lights inside them. :tux:

I´m so excited! I can´t wait :D
I don´t like the plastic ears and eyes seems little bit strange but we´ll see how it looks like when they are actually in stores. Huh, I´m so sure that they will be released in Finland like 6 months after USA :(
Edit.
I found this:
http://geek-news.mtv.com/2012/04/05/furby-t-shirts/That post has been made yesterday. There is definetly something new happening with Furbies, since there is 2 news made about furbies yesterday.
Waiting for the Hasbros official press release B)

I wonder how long it will take till they are released in Canada. They are probably in Japan now. hmmm........ :tux:

Do you mean that you think they are now made in Japan or released there? I don´t think that new Furbies are released anywhere at the moment since Hasbro haven´t given any information yet ;) I think they are going to do a press release and start advertising soon if Furbies are gonna be released in this year?
I found this too! :D
http://www.squidoo.com/christmas-toy-store"The Furby craze died down in 2000 and remained quiet until 2005, when the Emoto-Tronic company released a line of Furbies, Furby babies, and the Funky Furby. They were again popular because of new enhancements such as voice-recognition and the ability to make unique facial twitches. Some could communicate with other Furby toys, interacting to play games and sing songs. They sold well in 2007 but then became incredibly difficult to find.
Sticking with the idea that "everything old becomes new again," some forecasters predict the Furby will be incredibly popular this holiday season. "
So, another thing about Furbies, released yesterday!
I really start to think that Hasbro has given little information to some channels and is starting to advertise the new Furby this way! They are giving little hints first so people get excited!

It says sometime this fall and Canada and united states sometimes release there stuff at the same time. And about the design it's probably a demo design
Loona - April 6, 2012 05:33 PM (GMT)
wow :o this does sound exciting
I think it's too early to say anything about the looks, we've only seen a single picture that I think is actually 3D-drawn, not a real pic of a constructed prototype (putting fur-like texture to something that is drawn is rather easy. this way we won't be able to tell if things will look cool or not. I personally also think it will have a screen in place of the eyes because it does look like a screen, and even though that may look a bit odd compared to previous eye types it may have more ways to show emotion. I would also find screen-eyes strange, but I am not against them. I really love the hair-like new look of the IR-sensor, but also that they sticked to the original beak. I miss the "hair" too, that place looks so empty now). if these rumours turn out to be true I will also be interested in at least one of these guys, and as I will hopefully be working by that time I will hope to be able to get it NIB, but I really wonder what price it will have. also, I think they will take some time to arrive in Hungary after their debut...
I would also like to have some of those shirts rimmu linked :D

MintyDreams - April 6, 2012 06:00 PM (GMT)
Woah, woah, don't jump the gun here. XD
This is the first bit of news about them that anyone is getting. They're definitely not a finished product ready for market quite yet.
If they were out in Japan or any other country already, we would've heard about them months earlier through news and promotions.
I agree, Loona.
That picture looks like a computer mockup, not a photograph of a physical prototype. They might -still- be in the design-tweaking stage, which would suggest that anything could change.
The screen-eyes is probably a new gimmick to make them more expressive - without the not-so-long-lasting rubber that plagued the Emototronics.
I'm glad to see the original beak, too. I'm glad that it they went back to the original type design instead of another step in the Emototronic direction. (Not that I don't like the appearence of the Emototronics, I do, but I like the original Furby design sooooo much more.)
pigandcats - April 6, 2012 07:35 PM (GMT)
After taking one more look at they new versions of these cuties, I've made my announcement.
You will find 50 of the 2012's In my room about a year after they come out.
My only concern is how ere voice will sound. Will it be cute and bubbly, or nosy and anoying? Guess I'll wait and see. :red:

USA today wouldnt lie to us. And i looked up this story and found more proof that they are being released. Just search up Furby 2.0 on google or whatever search engine you have. Hasbro probably hasnt said much because they dont want it to be way to crazy like it was years ago. They probably want everything to just run smooth. Not like the craze over them years ago. :tux:
MintyDreams - April 7, 2012 05:23 AM (GMT)
No, Hasbro would want a craze over them.
It means lots and lots of money in their pockets. :P
lloyd - April 7, 2012 07:07 AM (GMT)
OMG OMG OMG OMG(am i ever gonna stop saying OMG lol)OMG OMG
i need one of those but a question will they be out in wales or anywhere in the uk like they used to be?
and by the time its been a month since they came out i would already have 10 of them
Sonic8100 - April 7, 2012 10:38 AM (GMT)
But remember what happened over the 98's and the 05's? Hasbro would want a craze but probably not the craze like mothers and fathers and kids fighting in stores for a furby. I think they would probably want it to be calm around this time. :tux:

no, Minty's right. if they have a little sense of media marketing (and they must have, thats why they became so popular in the toy industry) they will just generate as big a craze as it was with the originals, but this time they will start off with much more Furbs, so no one will have to fight for them and everyone will be able to buy one (which means much more income for them).
luigi - April 7, 2012 03:22 PM (GMT)
I guess there will be more furbish words  great news! Patrick, did you send the 1st link on my facebook? ;) I think i saw something similar...
furbyfan - April 7, 2012 06:07 PM (GMT)
Assuming this is real - we still haven't gotten it confirmed, no matter how reliable USA Today is - I think the new Furbys will be cute. I don't like the idea of screen eyes as much as normal fake eyes, but who knows, it might be even better than originals.
Also when I was searching for more info, I found an (older) news article about someone shooting a furby... here was part of the article
"Prosecutors said the incident was important and should be admitted as evidence because it demonstrated Gabbard's skill with a gun as well as his hot temper and indifference to the safety of those around him. The trial judge agreed."
It's sad but still I thought it was funny.. if anyone wants to see the full article PM me, I won't post it here.

Does someone remember what happened in 2005? I mean, when the emoto-tronics came, how did it affect the 1998 Furbys market? Did the prices and sells come on up on Ebay or did they come down?
I have no idea how this will affect.. I´m just little bit worried since I still need 4 emoto-tronics and 5 1998s to have my Furby collection complete :P I have to get these furbs before the new ones come, then I can concentrate fully on the new ones.
I hope that Hasbro won´t make the same mistake again that it did in 1998 (Or Tiger did but..). They put so many different Furbies to stores in a such a short time that people got bored. Now Mattel is doing it with Monster high dolls, there is all the time new dolls coming to stores that collectors can´t keep up with them.
I really hope that Hasbro won´t ruin this and release like 10 different fur colours at a time
Sonic8100 - April 8, 2012 12:47 AM (GMT)
If I were them I would release 1 furby colour for one month and see how it does. Then go on from there. :tux:
Loona - April 8, 2012 07:33 AM (GMT)
yeah, I'm also worried about the amount of fur colours released at one time. I also think one disadvantage of the originals were the too much fur colours in too short a time. I love the great variety, but if I were a collector those times (which I longed to be, but I never had that much money) it would have driven me nuts that I can't get them all (Pokémon, LOL  ) because that's just way more money than I can imagine to have.
but I'm sure they won't release only one colour at first, but more. one wouldn't give variety whereas it is important because they need the most buyers possible asap, they can't count on things such as "oh, next time we release a purple one and thoe people who didn't get one this time will definitely buy a purple". such things do happen, but not in great enough amount. but yeah, at later releases it would be cool if they sticked to - if not one - at least less colours at one time.
and also, I really wonder about what to expect for the price. I could never understand why the Emo-tronics cost a lot less than half the price of the originals back when they hit the stores, whereas they were supposed to be enhanced versions. not that they "becoming cheaper" was a problem (to be honest I didn't mind because I never had that much money either, it was still too pricey for me  ), just strange.
rimmu - April 8, 2012 09:23 AM (GMT)
I´m pretty sure that they will release them in sets of four or six. That would make a sense but my wallet is gonna be empty
I´m excited about all the new fur colours etc. but hopefully there won´t be crazy amount released in short time :( I can´t keep up with them if there is too many at a time.
If they cost 39,99$ per Furby, it´s gonna be 240$ for 6 Furbies  Oh my! It´s more than our maintenance charge for our apartment in a month. I don´t know where I´m gonna get all the money for these..As you all know, I´m not settling for just one, I wanna have them all  bad time to be perfectionist. Probably they are going to release new set in every 2-3 months?
I have only collected vintage toys, I haven´t bought any toys from the stores to my collection.. It´s gonna be so hard to put 40$ for a one Furby, when you can get at least 4-5 1998 Furbies from Ebay for that money.
And not to mention, my husband has been soo excited when I told him that I´m missing less than 10 Furbies for my collection. Now when I´m almost complete with the older ones, new ones come to stores  Good for me but bad for my husband. (He´s worried how much these new ones are going to cost etc.)
luigi - April 8, 2012 11:13 AM (GMT)

Electronics became much cheaper to produce as the years went on and the technology got better and more cost efficient.
Because of that the newer Furbies could be sold at a much lower price.
Sonic8100 - April 8, 2012 07:00 PM (GMT)
But knowing Hasbro they might raise it a bit high... :tux:
