Title: Why Did They, Anyway?

pigandcats - February 15, 2012 01:50 PM (GMT)
Hey guys.
Today I was surfing the website, and somewhere it said hasbro dicontinued Furbys. I already know that, but what I don't know is WHY they discontinued them. They had only been out for about 3 years, and they were still doing well. So why did they get discontinued? :red:

they weren't doing so well :/ or at least not as well as they did in the beginning, they didn't bring enough profit to be worth continuing anymore.

In the years 1998 and 1999 Furby was doing great. The problem was, in late 1999 most people already had Furbies, so it was pretty useless to keep selling them. They discontinued in mid 2000. They were then re-continued in 2005, but ended again in 2006. The new 2005 Emoto-Tronic Furby was horrible. They barely work. I hear rumour's from people that they are coming back out, but idk. :kid:

i know the real reason its because hey banned it from goverment offices because they thought it can learn bad word and also thinking it can record the messages ;)

The reason why the original furbys were discontinued is because of economic supply and demand. When furbys first came out, they became ultra popular and the demand for them was overwhelming. Unfortunately, Hasbro did not anticipate this and started mass producing the 99' furbys a little too late. The 99' furbys sold well, but not as well as Hasbro had hoped for, like they did in 98'. The supply of furbys in 99' and 2000 was high, but the demand was lower than it was in 98.

Its sad that they discontinued them. But at least their making new ones now. Did anybody realise that seven years after the 98's were released they came out with 2005's. And it has been seven years since they released the 05's. So maybe once the big furby crisis dies down they will wait approx. seven years and release more. :tux:
