Mercany Army Blog!, This is going to take a while!

Hey guys and gals!

As some of you may know,
i love making Xenos for 40k.


And since im almost finished with my Slann army,

i was asking on Kovash what to do,

then Infantryman suggested that i should make a Mercany army so i can go with all the choices!


Heres the races who will be in:
Humans (leaders)
Tau Enclaves (leaders)
Hrud,
Demiurg,
Loxatl,
Slann,
Kroot,
Vespid (maybe)


And heres what the army will have:

HQ:
Mercany Command Squad.


Elites:
Mercany Stormtroopers. (Stormtroopers ala Viridians)
Demiurg (Grymn miniatures)
Maybe some battlesuits.


Troops:
Imperial Abondoners (cadians with eagles filed of)
Marcany Enclaves (O'Shovah fire warriors)
Kroot Mercany Squad.
Hrud Squad.
Slann Brave Squad.

Fast Attack:
Sky battlesuit (fast attack battlesuit, ideas from the old Kovash)
Kroot Vultures.
Loxatl.


Heavy Support:
Hrud Heavy Weapon Squad.
Imperial Abondoners Heavy Weapon Squad.
Tau Broadsides.



I have a plan of making NO TANKS,
because...
1. I dont game,
2. It would look a bit weird with lotsa different tanks on the battlefield.


So far i have done this:

Command Squad with the following races:
Kroot,
Tau,
Humans,
Hrud,
Slann.


And i am working on a Imperial Abandoners squad (IG with Eagles filed of)


And a Hrud squad.



(BTW: Is this the right place to post this?)


And due to lazyness and a dead camera, i have no pics yet.

Sounds like a nice plan! How do the Hrud look so far? I assume that he is green stuffed or perhaps made out of a Skaven? What weapon do you have him wielding? Hrud are big fans of Plasma weaponry so I suspect an abundance of plasma weaponry as well as the reactors in their ships. Post up pictures as soon as you can!

I use a mix of Kroot weapons,
and a little part from a bolter.

Someone on Kovash told me that they had sniper-ish weapons,
so i made them long.


I have made about 6,
and one of them has a flamer.


They are made out of Skaven Plague Monks,
i think they fit very well.


I have some pics,

but i can only get the pics into my brothers computer,
and his on it aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall day!

I have painted (or almost finished) a Hrud!


I think it must be may best painted mini so far!

The scheme is:

First a black undercoat,

now, onto the clothes....

Its black,
then a mix of Chaos Black and Codex grey,
then codex grey,
then fortress grey


The skin is Shadow Grey,
with Space Wolves Grey highlights.


Grenades are Dark Angels Green,
with Scorpion Greent higlights.

Then some pouches are Schorched Brown,

and then Bleached Bone Higlights.


I need to paint the eyes,
arms,
and weapon,
and tail.



Should the tail be the same colour as the face?

I would go with a more pinkish color for the tail if you want it to look more like a rat, but mabey a dark tanish brown color since the hrud aren't exactly rats in space.

I really want to see the pics of him!

anyway, there is a picture of a hrud on page... either 70 or 170 of the old 3rd edition rule book.

They use long guns that fire plasma and use Bolas and throwing knives.

but my Hrud conversions look very much like that dude in the drawing!

very cool so far. I think they look pretty good for troops based off a race that only has one picture in all of the 40k fluff.

Great but also make sure that some of them has some plasma somewhere. That's basically the trademark of the Hrud.

Guys!

A little more progress have been made!


I have got my Viridians (Urban Mammoth),

And I have painted a test mini!

And I made the Tau leader!

And made a few more fire warriors!

And I ordered me some Grymn (Demiurg/Squat), from Hasslefree Miniatures!


The scheme is really hard,
and it takes ALOT of time!

All of the Mixes are 50:50:

First a black undercoat,
then I mix Dark Angels Green and Chaos black, and take it on the edges.

Then I use pure Dark Angels green on the edges.

Then I mix Dark Angels green and snot green, and take It on the edges.

THen I use pure Snot Green, and take it on the edges.

THen I mix Snot Green and Scorpion green, and take it on the edges.

Then I use pure Scorpion Green, and take it on the edges.

Then I mix Scorpion Green and Skull white, and take it on the edges.


Thats the armor....
