Why the Jo hatred?

I keep wondering, why do so many fangirls hate Jo? From what I've seen they don't even bother to see past her actions. I mean, yeah she's an amateur! And yeah she fights with her mom! But one day Dean and Sam were amateurs too! And don't tell me that the brothers were "above" fighting with Pops W!

I just want to know why! That's the reason Kripke keeps giving for no more Jo, that he read the boards and he saw the OMG!HATE!

Well, I can understand the Jo-hate at some level. The friend who got me into Supernatural loved Dean/Jo and she was all "You'll see, you're going to love them" and stuff. And when I met Jo, I was kind of disappointed, because I didn't like her much in 2x02... and I didn't see much of a relationship with Dean at first... Although now I love her! And I'm willing to see her again on the show!
So I understand that some people might not like her a lot, because I didn't like her (or Dean/Jo) much at first either. But all that hate... I don't know, I think it's exaggerated.
I think people should try and give Jo a chance. I didn't even like the Winchesters when I started watching the show! I HATED Dean on the pilot... I just had to get to know them, and same with Jo. And I think people just got all upset because of the new addition to the show and didn't really care to find out how she really is.

i always thought the main reasons behind the hatred for Jo was obvious. most of it but not all, comes from the deangirl fandom who can't fathom Dean being romantically involved with anyone. whether it be because it disrupts the brother dynamic or because they want Dean all to themselves haha, iono really. but thats where i observed all the hatred was coming from, mostly deangirls. but there are people who aren't so welcoming with Jo's character because they just don't like the development of her character and how she's written into the show. As for me, i loved Jo the moment i saw her punch Dean. lol. that's one of my favorite Dean/Jo moments.

See at first I really didn’t care much for Jo or the whole relationship that was held between the two of them but you know what when it was gone and not brought back till Born Under a Bad sign you miss it…I think Alona Tal did a good job and they should bring her back

I really liked her at first. She was younger, she wasn't a knock out (no pun intended) and she didnt swoon at the first sight of Dean. I liked that she wasnt the sterotypical girl Dean is normally with. She was blond sure, but she has brown eyes, not blue. She knows how to take care of herself, and Dean knows that too. She doesn't have a huge chest. 'Nuf said. She didnt just give herself away to Dean, when he clearly was interested in her, but stoped himself because it was someone his Dad knew and his Dad just died so he didnt want to do that to her. They fight and Jo makes Dean flustered. He tells her things. He tells her the truth. He lies to protect her, like he does Sam. When she was taken in NE, he went after her like the entire world depended on it. He has had to save other girls before, and he has NOT acted like that. He didnt even have a plan when he went to find her. She makes him think irrationally, just like Sam. She punched him and made him not be able to see, no girl has ever done that to him. He actually smiles when he is with her, he never does that to his "one nighters". He tells her secrets. He says stupid things when he is with her, like I should have cleaned the pipes, and then makes adorable huffing noises to try to controle his downstairs brain. He gets mad becasue she doesnt do exactly what he says, like Sam.
So basically, i have a longer list, but this proves my point. I liked Jo becasue she made Dean happy. I want Dean to be happy. They work.

I Like her because she was the first young hunter just like the boys...and she started because her father was a hunter and why did the boys become hunters because of their Mom and Dad. Dean was hunting for his dad, and trying to find him, and sam was in it too to find Jessica's killer. their dad were hunters together and at first i didnt like jo because it came out as she was trying to hook up and get inside Dean's pants but now that i look at it, she is just a hunter like the boys and she just has as much passion to kill the evil s.o.b's she can just like the boys. so now i changed my mind and i do like her.
